Fact Check: RNC Ad Hits Obama for ‘Higher Costs’ on Health Care (Obama Lied, Granny Died)
abc ^ | 3/20/2012 | Devin Dwyer

The Republican National Committee is hammering President Obama in a new TV ad over what it calls a “broken promise” to bring down health care costs for families.

The ad, which can be viewed HERE, airs this week in the pivotal swing states of Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida, the RNC said.

The ad seems aimed at exploiting what a Kaiser Family Health Foundation poll revealed this month as the most widely cited negative perception of Obama’s health care law: increased costs overall.

The ad puts front and center Obama’s June 2008 promise made in a speech in Raleigh, N.C., that “we will bring down premiums by $2,500 for the typical family” — a pledge he repeated at other points during the campaign.

The RNC supports Romney (Creator of ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE)
so what is the point?

The RNC/Romney is responsible for RomneyCARE.

Ineligible Romney MEANS an absolute loss.

“most widely cited negative perception of Obama’s health care law: increased costs overall.”

It’s certainly a negative, but most widely cited? That would be government intrusion/loss of freedom. Of course, everything about it is bad.

>>“A major driver in the increasing cost of premiums is the fact that health care costs are increasing rapidly.<<

Which is due to at least two readily identifiable issues:

1. Medical welfare programs don’t reimburse very well compared to provider costs, or wind up being a deadbeat debtor to providers, so the hospitals jack up charges to insurers and cash paying patients (Cost shifting)

2. Government mandated “Guaranteed Issue” where insurers must cover any applicant regardless of health condition, and throw them in the pool of otherwise healthy individuals who “might get sick”.

The unintended consequence of this debacle is; people wait until they develop some $100,000/yr chronic condition before they decide to buy health insurance.

Total claims equals around 85% of total premium...does this inflate your premiums?

>>that was a lot of what the Affordable Care Act is designed to do — to slow the increases in those costs<<

No, that’s a lie. The ACA was designed to destroy the health insurance market and the ObamaCare architects deliberately lied about its purpose...which is to make “private sector insurance” so expensive and ineffective, that their beloved socialized medicine could slide into place and save the day.

We can finally credit the GOP for a teeny, tiny step in the right direction. It’s very late for them to begin noticing that Obama is trying to be a dictator. They better take what money is trickling in and create more adds aimed at personally at Obama with lots more edge. The resulting avalanche of funds might really frighten the RINO’s.

The White House and Obama campaign have appealed for patience on the promised savings for families, insisting premium reductions under the new health care law would be realized by 2019.

You have to pass the bill so we can see what’s in it...

I voted for it before I voted against it...

You have to pay the high cost of premium increases now so you’ll realize the cost savings later....

I’m seeing a trend here.

Funny how ABC CNN CBS etc always ‘fact check’ GOP ads. But lets Obama statements go unchecked (i.e. “Republican economics have never worked” - LOL!)

Weird how that works.

In the mean time they are kicking around the idea of raising Tricare premiums for retired military like my Husband and I. They would like to increase our premiums by 300% for retired officers.

The medical benefits were promised, this is one of the biggest reasons why people stay until retirement in the military. Now this Sonofabitch comes into office and the whole thing is out the window, if he gets his way.

A 'too bad', RNC typically 'not so edgy' advertising MO, IMHO.

How about scaring the hell out of those viewing. Try a 'WHOSE YOUR DOCTOR?' ad; and 'where is he' (and showing them closing up their Practices because Gov has made their Profession untenable. Senior citizen shows up for appt and doors are locked! (Sure you can keep your Doctor; if you can find him, that is.) Show them, what it freaking means to have Socialized health care. European style?; show the horror stories. . .

Better; just use Obama in his own words; and they will understand, 'NOW' what he means.

Let's see what an open convention will give us. It can't be worse than Romney - no candidate to the left of Romney has a chance. The convention isn't going to give the nomination to Olympia Snowe or Jon Huntsman. Any politician with the least bit of ambition will likely throw their hat into the ring - just a few days of campaigning with little or no cost to win the nomination is going to be hugely attractive.

In the almost fifty years that I have followed politics, I have never seen the Republican Party so demoralized. We are about to put forward a candidate who we know can't win in the fall and even if he did, few Republicans would really want him to serve as President. A new candidate to emerge from the convention would energize this party in a way that Romney never will and sweep Obama from office.

DON'T GIVE UP AND SURRENDER - KEEP ROMNEY FROM 1144 AND LET'S NOMINATE A REAL CANDIDATE AT THE CONVENTION.

Yeah tell me about it,we have a Health Savings account for my wif,I go to The VA for my care because I cant afford the plan where I work. We have a Catostrophic Policy for my wife and we have been adding money in the Bank for routine medical expenses. But the Letter for the Policy came this year with a Letter saying because of Obamacare the premium is increased by two thousand dollars, that prevents us from putting anything away for routine expenses, has to go for the Major portion of the policy.
