CLINTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ) - Its been a challenge to record them, but Clintonville city officials have the first audio recording of the actual booming noises the city has been dealing with since Sunday night, March 18th. City Administrator Lisa Kuss says a Madison Area Technical College student Brian Sullivan was able to record a boom noise on Saturday March 24th. Kuss says Sullivan has been working with the city on and off for over the two week period whenever he has been available. The booming noises are accompanied with ground trembles that have woken up residents in the middle of the night. The U.S. Geological Survey says the area did experience a 1.5 magnitude earthquake shortly after midnight Tuesday March 20th. The USGS says micro-quakes like the Clintonville event are regular across the United State, but are not often felt. The USGS has characterized the Clintonville phenomenon as likely a swarm of micro-quakes. Late last week, Michigan Tech loaned the city four seismometers, and infra-sound equipment to detect the booming noises and seismic activity. Those are now transmitting data in real time to the USGS.

Very clear recording released this morning.
must be those seeeeecret underground bases the New World Order is building ;-)
Is Clintonville next to Monicaville?
Maybe there will be whisps of smoke coming up from underground soon, like that town in PA — Centralia, I think. Any old coal mines under there?
I used to go up to the lake near there to fish. Great pan fishing and bass and Northern Pike. Of course, that was back in the 50s.
Time to get the elephant gun ready.
I am opening myself up to being 100% wrong here, but I sure got a sneaky suspicion some kids are having a lot of fun, and either will get caught soon or someone will not be able to keep their mouth shut and spill the beans all by themselves.
Just a hunch.
If so, kudos to the kids for fooling everyone for so long, and I hope the law takes it easy on them.
Just good ol’ boys,
Never meaning no harm.
Beats all you ever saw,
gettin’ in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born.
Making their way,
the only way they know how.
But that’s just a little bit more
than the law will allow.
My brother lives in that neck of the woods — Sunbury.
Speaking of visiting lakes in the ‘50s, we lived by Lake Erie and swam in it often. I guess it was the late ‘60s when that lake was deemed to be extremely polluted. (Maybe that’s why my hair is turning grey. hmmm...)
The area has a unique granite base.
Well they say they have ruled out foul play but you never know....lol!
The morlocks are firing up their furnaces!
Hmmmmm, could be the North Korean invasion tunnel is near completion?
Has anybody thought to check any spikes in sales in the town’s grocery stores of beans?
I can hear the guy holler “BOOM”!
Upon further review, when I play it on my desktop, the “boom” is clearly audible. Holy sh.., cow!
ok well if this is happening every night, just lay out a grid of observers and triangulate on the sound... how hard is that?
Naw, it’s the middle earthers testing their nukes before coming after us. Heard it on Coast to Coast.
And the seismologist survey sayssss....????
Midcontinent Rift. Notice how it dips down into Wisconsin.
Lake Superior occupies the apex of the rift.
