With all the usual caveats about early polls in play, the generally reliably trending USA TODAY/Gallup Poll has seen a rather abrupt turn in the battleground states over the past month among one demographic. Women.
(Excerpt) Read more at hotair.com ...
Before this poll the previous polls had the rep potential nominee ahead in these States. Why doe ONE poll make this a new ball game? Not saying the birth control issue didn’t hurt but this poll was taken in the middle of a huge brohaha with Limbaugh in the middle of it all.
This will quiet down as do all spikes for any reason eventually even themselves out. This election will NOT be decided on the basis of Fed funded (read taxpayer) birth control for college students.
McLame was the last straw....Never Again!
Santorum is a bad reflection on all Republican candidates. His yammering on about having a national conversation about why contraception is "not okay" hurts all Republicans.
He reminds me of that guy who would use rufies at a party.
Romney isn’t Reagan....he isn’t even one of the Bushes.
Even the Catholics I know who are the most gung-ho about the Church’s teaching on birth control are not eager to start a “conversation” to try and persuade all other Christian churches to get on board. Such a move would clearly be too pointlessly divisive.
This guy is the most clueless, arrogant, self absorbed jerk in the history of American Politics. He will ruin us all.
Re: I sure feel like I wasted my vote when I voted for mcCain
At least you can say you did not vote for obama
Look at who ran. There wasn't a single candidate running for President that I am happy about or that the majority of Conservatives could get behind. Considering how important it is to get Obama out of office, I thought we would have a really great candidate by this point in the primary. What do you want? They all suck.
McCain may very well have gotten us into a World War....to say McCain is a loose cannon is an understatement.
I have come to except that he will be. Anybody but Obama!(plugging my nose) Mitt for President!
Obozo isn't that stupid -- he's an Alinskyite, too. With Hillary in the VP chair, Obozo's second term would be "colorful, exciting, and short."
</Adm. Crowe, on the Soviet Navy's career in a general war>
The survey of 933 registered voters, taken March 20-26, has a margin of error of +/- 4 points. The swing states surveyed are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin."
So many errors, so little time, so much fail:
These polls are meaningless. Once the GOP has a nominee and we can then focus on Obama and his record, the numbers will change significantly. High unemployment, massive debt, high gas and food prices, etc. will sink Obama who can’t defy the laws of political gravity. The 2010 midterms were the harbinger of things to come in 2012.
Cut it out Psycho. Santorum can’t be blamed for splitting the vote, but we know who polls lower than Rick with women and he is the one with the second fewest delegates.
So cut the hate. Both Rick and Newt are done. They both look exhausted and I give them more credit than I do any of us. They got out there and actually worked to stop Romney rather than running off at the mouth on an internet forum and falling for silly polls that make the Kenyan clown look like a winner.
This is what happens when Senators run for the Presidency. They have no clue how to conduct Executive Protocol. They also have problems with knowing how to win national elections. We don't need any more Senator trainees in the White House! This one about killed us!
Few are Reagan's, and if Reagan were around today I think he would find the media even worse than they were when he ran (consider what NBC just did with the the 911 tape from the Sanford police department). That said, our side hasn't even begun to use the left’s and Obama’s records against them. I'm not a Romney fan by any stretch, and would love to have a Newt Gingrich without the personal baggage that hurt him. That said, I do believe that Romney can win, and I also strongly believe that there is a big difference between him and Obama. Obama’s goal is to totally restructure American society, consistent with his inflammatory and racially motivated ideology that was likely at least partially impressed upon him by people like Bell, Ayers, and Wright. We have to coalesce and do our best to prevent him from another term.
I wouldn’t be terribly shocked of a VP switch, however if it were ME, I’d do it sooner.
Like, the day the GOP formally nominates Romney and whoever as VP.
That’d take some air out of the room, wouldn’t it?
Agreed. How anyone in their right mind can consider voting for Obama is simply astounding. I would love to see the breakdown of this poll.
It won't matter -- those ideological women voters are blind to everything except what they want to see, their "vision". By teasing up reproductive issues, Obozo is rattling their chains, they just don't know it.
Giving women the vote was a civilizational mistake that will kill the Republic. Women don't want anything like what men do from government, and the Republic was constructed around a male electorate. Women's brain processes make them the very, very last people anyone anywhere should want next to the levers of republican government, and that's even allowing for real exceptions like Margaret Thatcher and Sarah Palin.
Overeducated, barren, man-hating Democrat women will turn America into a despotate, and then a wasteland -- like something out of Hellboy.
What does she say about it?
Do Mormon women get to be gods of their own planet? No? That’ll be another quiver in Obama’s batch of arrows this fall.
If you want to quell the anger towards Santorum that is starting to grow rapidly on our side, then talk some sense into the idiot. It has nothing to do with hate, it has everything to do with common decency and a sense of duty to the health of this country.
If Romney is the nominee, I’ll work for his election. Hell yes!
As long as women vote, we're going to be chained to the rock of the "Hillary Cluster", with 'Rat-Socialist den mothers playing all those single women like xylophones.
Add in two large blue so-called 'swing' states that the GOP nom doesn't even need to win = guaranteed self-identified Dem female oversample = survey fail
So let me see if I understand this; Obama has been tanking with women...even after the Fluke diversion, but now all of a sudden he's being “boosted” by women? And you guys are buying this? Let me further ask you; if Obama is doing so swell amongst women (and the population at large) why is he not running on the economy, gas prices, unemployment, oil drilling, ObamaCare...yada, yada?
Sorry, but some of you folks sound like spineless wussies: “Oh no, we're doomed...whatever shall we do?” Some advice: grow some onions and stop believing everything you hear and read. If Obama was doing well right now, he wouldn't be relying on diversions such as contraceptives, and race baiting.
The Dems and Leftists must laugh their a$$es off at us! Pathetic!
ROFL!!!
Anyone knowingly helping obama by staying home in November is a traitor.
We can’t endure 4 more years of this and by 2016 there may be nothing left to salvage.
And it all began with Betty Friedan, a Communist cadre who left college to work for a big Communist labor-union newspaper.
(She said later in a women's-magazine story I read, that she left college to follow a man, her boyfriend, who dumped her. Bullshine. She was a Communist, and the Party called her and put her to work on Feminism.)
I hope you are right....my goodness, I hope you are right.
Government is their Sugar Daddy.
I disagree with those who say Obama can’t be beaten..
I am supporting the person who has the most delegates and USED to have a chance to beat Romney. Why support someone who I am also not convinced is all he is touted up to be on FR. He can’t even get his own party to vote for him.
That said, neither has a chance to stop Romney now, and Newt and Rick both know it.
All the gibberish otherwise is just gibberish. So frankly, we can stop trashing them now. The trash has already been thrown in the truck and delivered to the landfill.
This primary process was set up to make it almost impossible for the guys that don’t have the big bucks and big donor backing to win.
The only thing that irritates me anymore is hearing a snit like Ann Coulter, who I used to like, making herself look like an hysterical groupie over the process that is hurting poor Romney. A process that her buds in the GOP set up and she is now pissing and moaning about.
I no longer care about who is angry at who. Santorum is no more responsible for the outcome than Newt, Paul, Romney the GOP. You just want a person to blame it on. The only reason this is happening now is because the GOP wants Santorum and Newt to go away because the process they set up is hurting the little Mittster. Mitt is hurting because more people in more ststes have seen his negative ads and are turned off by it.
The only reason I will vote for ANY Repubic is that when and if Obama has his second term he will appoint Supreme Court judges.
“Assuming that President Obama is re-elected and that Justice Ginsburg does retire at some point in the next Administration, who will be the next nominee? One thing is certain: it will be a woman. It is inconceivable that a Democratic administration with any reasonable choice would cause the gender balance of the Supreme Court to revert to seven men and two women. Relatedly, appointing three women in a row to the Court is excellent politics.
President Obama will also have a strong desire to pick an ethnically or racially diverse nominee. It would be disappointing for the nations first African-American President to make two white appointments, leaving the Court with seven white members. A more diverse Court is a better legacy. Given that the President already appointed the first Latina Justice, most likely is an African-American or Asian-American nominee. That said, I think race and ethnicity are plus factors, rather than an imperative like gender.”
From liberal Scotus blog.
I agree Obama can be beaten, he just can’t and won’t be beaten by a pathetic piece of trash like Romney.
What does the (=) sign in your tag signify?

Just wait till our side starts actually campaigning with a solid nominee. That will change rapidly, especially since it is obvious how well the Romney campaign has been using negative campaign tactics. They can easily turn this against Obama. Especially as weak as Obama is on his record and by then, the ruling on Obamacare will be in our favor.
Right now most of the negative image the moderates and Independents have on Republicans, is due to the high profile radical image and negative rhetoric against women that Santorum has been getting all the headlines for.
That will change once our main economic message starts taking effect. And Romney does have a strong economic message and the Executive experience to implement it. I also believe Romney will ask Newt to join the effort.
[Why support someone who I am also not convinced is all he is touted up to be on FR. He cant even get his own party to vote for him.]
It’s obvious that Romney has more Delegates than all the others combined. So, your claim is obviously wrong. Somebody HAS been voting for Romney after all.
It could definitely happen that way.
I disagree with that sentiment too. I’m a pessimist by nature, by I believe my cat could beat Obama. Public disgust with Obama grows daily..
I haven’t been wrong yet.
“It is embarrassing watching fellow FReepers act like a bunch of pu$$ies!”
Well said.
Conservatives need to get with the program and learn how to fight the information WAR against the left.
There are so many areas that need work, but the potential is there for those willing to step up.
The sad fact is too many are just flat out scared.
Scared of speaking out, scared of the government, scared of openly and freely excercising their constitutional rights.
Or just flat out lazy.
Sitting in front of a TV watching movies and “sports” while whining “we are so screwed” ain’t gonna cut it, folks.
Public disgust with Obama grows daily..”
Maybe.
He is riding high in the polls RIGHT NOW. Well, high enough in any event to win re-election.
I’m very worried. If the country is dumb enough to elect obama, it is dumb enough to re-elect him....
