ABC ^ | April 2, 2012 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 04/02/2012 10:30:24 AM PDT by bgill

Former President Bill Clinton said the "tragedy" of the killing of Trayvon Martin should cause a re-thinking of the "Stand Your Ground" law. "There are different stories being told," the former president said, "so the first thing I have to say is that it's important to find out the facts."

Clinton continued "but to me, beyond the incredible personal tragedy- this young man was not armed, he clearly presented no threat to anybody's life

They're out to trash the 2nd.

Don't you just hate when the ground jumps up and beats on the back of your head and your nose smashes itself into someone's fist?

How the heck does he know that even though he was unarmed he “clearly presented no danger”? We just had a young thug arrested here in Mobile who wasn’t armed and managed to get the policeman’s gun and murdered him in the sally port of the county jail.

Gag! Slick WIllie is joining the mob in convicting before a trial!!!

How does Slick KNOW the TeenThug “presented no threat to anybody’s life???”

He’s at it again with his James Carville-style greasy campaign tactics.

What does Bill Clinton have to worry about? He has Secret Service protection. Those boys ALWAYS get to stand their ground and then some.

Tell you what, Slick. You forego Secret Service protection and move to a condo complex like that where George Zimmerman lived, and THEN get back to us about Stand Your Ground laws.

Until then, you have NO CLUE what consitiutes a danger to life and limb, because you have trained professionals doing that for you.

Yeah, what does Clinton have to worry about? He has armed guards around him 24/7 (at taxpayer expense).

Hey, how about we end Secret Service protection for Clinton? Okay, I’ll play the Democrat game, I’ll “compromise”. How about Clinton gets to keep his Secret Service detail, but they cannot be armed by law. How about that? I compromised, didn’t I? Let’s do it.

There is no end to the kinds of weapons people carry that they can use to kill people if they so choose. He should have just stopped after the statement after waiting to get all the facts. I don’t know about people my age in general, but I do know my friends and I are very, very careful about where we go and are learning to become more aware of those around us, now even during the daytime. Most that I know are now licensed to carry, regularly go to the range for practice time and probably would not go out at all at night if we were not allowed to carry protection.

I’m surprised the convicted liar didn’t mention all the black churches he saw burned as a child. (with acompanying crocodile tears)

BTW it has nothing to do with stand your ground, its concealed carry and the right any citizen has to follow another person in their neighborhood behaving suspiciously, especially with many recent burglaries in the area.

BTW2 if Zimmerman had not had a gun he would most likely been another white/hispanic victim of a would be black murderer. Something that is far more common place. It was self defense Clinton you *%#^$ moron.

If Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman, I don’t see that stand your ground has anything to do with it. Disoriented from blows to the nose and head with someone on top you saying “Now you’re gonna die”? There was no means of retreat. If that is what went down, Zimmerman’s only choice was to fight him off any way he could.

I completely agree with you that this case, in reality, has nothing to do with “stand your ground” - I just think the liberals are trying to use this to turn public opinion against right to carry and stand your ground laws. I think this is the left’s true target - not the racial thing (although they’ll use it to their advantage, too).

Whether Martin was armed or not does not matter. A threat to one’s life can be present without a gun. An ‘unarmed’ MMA kickboxer IS a threat to someone’s life as much as a gun is.
A 98 pound weakling might have only one chance to save his/her life through the use of deadly force with a firearm against such a threat. And that would be before any blows are landed, because by that time it would be too late.

Yo, Slick, buy a vowel.

A few years ago Trevon Martin might have been helping Barry bring you your coffee, but that was then. In real life he was smashing the back of Mr. Zimmermans's head on the sidewalk.

As liberal as the state of Washington is, it has reasonable gun laws. You can use deadly force if necessary to stop a felony anywhere that you might be, and whoever it may be against.

If some guy is trying to steal a lady’s purse you can shoot him if he doesn’t stop. Although I imagine as soon as you pulled a weapon he would stop.

I don't understand the constant reference to the stand your ground law either. It just doesn't seem to apply in this case. It seems at this point that it was basic and simple self defense due to fear of serious injury or death from beating.

The entire Democrat Party is misreading this situation SOOOOOOO badly.

Why do you suppose Charles Bronson became a huge international movie star? (hint: it was not his prowess as a thespian nor his good looks)

It’s because the vast majority identified with his character, given the times they were living in.

The Dems are really setting a bomb to go off in their faces here.

The article shows that Bubba:

1) Does not understand the difference between “Stand Your Ground”, and Shall Issue/Concealed Carry laws. No wonder he lost his law license.

2) Believes anyone who acts in self-defense should be prosecuted for murder, regardless of circumstances (protecting victims from wrongful prosecution in such cases is exactly why SYG was passed).

Why do these leftist bloats sympathize with criminals rather than victims? The attitude that we all should just lie down and let criminals kill us is sick, Slick.

A question.

Do you think that Mr. Zimmerman pulled his gun with intention of defending himself by shooting Mr. Martin?

Or would you admit it is more likely that in the struggle over the gun, someone pushed, pulled or whatever, the trigger in the midst of the battle?

I have only seen one trained weapons carrier (a black cop demoing to a high school class) who put his finger on the trigger as he pulls the weapon out of it’s holster.

He shot himself through the foot.
