A law enforcement dive team on Monday discovered what authorities believe to be the body of Samantha Koenig -- the 18-year-old abducted from a Midtown Anchorage coffee stand on Feb. 1, Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew said. It's a grim development in a kidnapping case that gripped Anchorage for two months. The body was found in Matanuska Lake, off the Glenn Highway, Mew said. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the identity, he said. "Investigators believe that Samantha died within hours of the abduction, and we are continuing to investigate these facts," Mew said, reading from a written statement to a crowd of reporters outside police headquarters. He said police are confident they have the person responsible in custody and that the person acted alone.

Never go with you abductor. Fight for your life.
Who is that?
“Never go with you abductor. Fight for your life.”
That’s the perp they caught in Texas. He was a construction contractor in Anchorage at the time of her disappearance. They are sure it’s him. They are holding him. He obviously told them she was in the lake. I hope the bastard fries.
Never go anywhere if they have a gun or not.
I hope he fries, too. The poor girl. Her last moments must have been horrifying beyond words.
The scumbag has a 10 year old daughter...
Yes. That cannot be repeated enough. Every child old enough to walk should be reminded of that, again and again.
They showed a picture at the time, of the little coffee shack she worked in. It was in a parking lot of a shopping center. The snow that been plowed was piled very high & obscured the view from the nearby street. She was alone and no one could see what was happening.
I can only hope that at the very least this was a lesson for others.
Feed him to the grizzlies alive.
I have heard that if you cant think of anything else, just sit down.
The guy has a choice of shooting you on the ground and bringing attention, or not.
I will take my chances with “not”.
I wonder where in Texas they found him, I have not heard this on the local Houston news.
I don’t get this mentality at all. But once something this horrific has happened he deserves nothing from society short of death. The pain these bastards cause is incredible!
Yes, the second crime scene is where you will be tortured, raped, and murdered. Better to be shot in a public area and pray you will able to live until you get medical help.
What we have today is a theraputic society that puts our criminals to sleep peacefully like a rabid dog. We need to put a little harshness in our punishments again which can act as a deterrent by putting some fear in these crooks.
Beat me to it!
“I wonder where in Texas they found him,”...
Keyes was arrested for speeding in Lufkin, Texas on March 11
And if you are working in a coffee shop, there is some really hot coffee just laying around that you can throw on your assailant.
That’s what I tell my daughters: bite, kick, hit, scratch, claw, gouge, and YELL, YELL, YELL.
Got him before he got to Houston.
He must have cut a hole in the ice to dispose of her body, or used someone else’s ice-fishing hole.
Hang ‘em high!
Ditto. Fight for all you’re worth, yell, scream , make noise, run away if you can but certainly don’t make it easy for your attacker. Remember Admiral William F. “Bull’’ Halseys maxim:”Hit hard, hit fast, hit often’’.
I bet this isn’t something that happens in Anchorage a lot. But then I bet people in Alaska know how to take care of a lot of situations without “bothering” the police. All that open space...
Take him out behind the snow mound and...afterall, It’s normal to hear gun shots in Alaska.
My idea for executions would be to tie the feet of the convicted murderer(assuming we know for a fact he/she is guilty)to a anchor point buried in the ground, then tie his arms to a catapult and release the catapult upon the time set for the execution. That would certainly put a little fear into the hearts of anyone thinking about killing another human. The executions would be broadcast on TV also.
Might sound a little inhumane but on the other hand I have no sympathy for anyone who kills another human. We could think of something more gruesome for child killers.
