Santorum Leads Romney In Pennsylvania GOP Primary (41-35%)
Quinnipiac University ^ | 04-03-12 | Quinnipiac University

Posted on 04/03/2012 11:21:31 AM PDT by Lazlo in PA

Favorite Son Rick Santorum leads former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 41 - 35 percent among likely voters in Pennsylvania's Republican presidential primary, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul has 10 percent, with 7 percent for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

With three weeks before the primary, 6 percent of likely voters remain undecided and 37 percent of those who name a candidate say they still could change their mind, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. This is the first look at likely voters and cannot be compared with earlier surveys of registered voters.

---------------------------

It's better for the Republican Party if Santorum stays in the race, 57 percent of likely primary voters say, while 33 percent say it's better for the party if Santorum drops out.

Obama isn’t going to get PA this time. He is hated here by all but the welfare queens and hard core leftists.

Don't hold your breath. PA hasn't gone R in a presidential election since 1988.

There are a lot of Pennsylvanians who just want to wind up this contest and see any attempts to delay the inevitable as just making it all the harder to oust ObaMao in November. That could change if Rick turns in a surprisingly good performance in Wisconsin tonight.

We don't see Newt or Sarah or anyone else riding in on a white horse at the last moment to save us. Freepers, of course, will give Rick a solid majority here. But we're not a majority of the GOP or even of the conservatively inclined GOP.

41-35 is not a very big lead. Just saying. Romney was behind by more than that at one point in Michigan and then went on to win.

Its not sad, its REALITY. Folks, Santorum is milk toast, and is NOT liked in PA. He is far more popular in other parts of the country that he is in his own back yard for good reason.

There is a REASON he was sent packing by 17 points in 06, and in polls taken just this month would lose a rematch by 8-10 right now. The guys not remotely what his backers think he is.

Lived in PA since 1986, and dreamed of a day when the primary vote by the time it got here might matter, and what are my choices? A loser milk toast and a democrat abortionist.

Those of us in PA know the guy and his record, very well, and frankly the fact he currently polling at 41% among republicans is rather suprising.. not because of how low that is, but how high that is for this guy here.

Willard Romney the open socialist makes Rick Santorum look like Ronald Reagan by comparison.

Rick may be a Republican in the mold of Pat Toomey and George W. Bush, but even that would be a significant improvement from Obongo.

Your right about the long spell for a GOP win here, but there is one big change in the state since then. We are now a big gas shale state as opposed to union manufacturing. I think that will matter this year with the way the EPA is operating.

Not true. The most surprising part of this poll is that almost 60% of likely voters want Rick to stay in this as opposed to 30% that want this done with Milt as the guy. There is an incredibly high amount of dissatisfaction with Milt as the nominee if these numbers are good.

True. But there will be a lot of that 30% voting for Mitt.

Let's see what happens in Wisconsin tonight.

“Most of us in Pennsylvania know Rick pretty well here. We had him as a senator for 12 years ...”

And then threw him out by the largest margin of defeat for an incumbent senator in 30 years.

bbbb....bbbbbu.....bbb...bbbbu...bbbbbbut we had the opportunity to elect our Late Governor, Bob Casey, to the US Senate, because he is very Pro Life, and he could stopr that Eeeeeeeevil Warmonger George Bush from throwing all our money down a rathole in Iraq. Then all of our prescriptions would be free, and we'd be able to use our free bus passes during rush hour, thanks to our Late Govenor-Senator Casey, who is, by the way, very Pro Life, and took that money George Bush had been wasting in Iraq and started spending it at home where it belongs.

And besides, he would not vote for a health care bill that was not absolutely, totally, 100% Pro Life, would he??

I agree, but the voters need to be told they`re being screwed, and why. The 0bama-worshipping “media” won`t.

Obama isn’t going to get PA this time. He is hated here by all but the welfare queens and hard core leftists. I find that the old union types really are not interested in voting for him like the last time.

Wow! That's the best political news I've heard all day.

Rick supported Arlen Spectre of all people. He supported Bush's massive drug plan.

And he is a big whiner. He can't take the heat.
