This looks bad.

Obama must really be pissed at Texas.
Hope for the best.

Could be that Karl Rove dusted off the old weather machine.
Not happy about Rick Perry going against the establishment pick.
All joking aside - prayers up for those in harms way.

My wife was in Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville and they made the customers take cover. When she got out, she was then pinned into a highway overpass by the hail.
She is home now (Valley Ranch/Irving/Carolton) but the rain and hail are still intense.
I saw the video of the tornado picking up semi trailers like a toddler throwing toys.
Whenever humans get that hubris going, one need only experience an earthquake or see a tornado to remind us Who is in charge.

We have been hit bad. Several tornados, softball hail. So far no one killed. It is moving into East Texas. If it holds together, may mean a bad night for those east of us

Terrible and dramatic live coverage just now on Ch. 11 as chaser and first responder with camera watched a funnel hit an elementary school, homes and businesses in Forney.
Some completely destroyed, direct hit to Crosby Elementary. Don’t know if kids had been sent home.

I talked to a ATT customer service guy by the name of George yesterday because of having internet/tech outage issues in my area. He says he is working from TX. Hopefully not one of those affected by this tornado stuff.

It's not a funnel if it's touching down and doing damage, it's a tornado.
And I hope they didn't send those kids home - that's the worst thing you can do is push people into driving around in extremely bad weather if they don't need to be - all it takes is getting caught at a light or in a traffic jam and you'll have parents and kids scrambling for culverts.
It's tornado country, chances are they got the kids into the safest part of the school and hunkered down.
To: copaliscrossing
Haven’t heard a thing about Keller, which is a good thing today. That part of the area is in the clear now.
Worst damage was south and east of Keller. Still funnels on the ground on the east side of Dallas right now.

I forgot to add - if they were to try and send all of those kids home, they would be clogging up the streets and making it difficult for paramedics, police, and firefighters to get around. There are enough would-be storm chasers running around and clogging up the streets as it is, hoping to get their videos up on Youtube or whatever.

We have been hit bad. Texans are resilient and are uniquely equipped to deal with our weather extremes, ranging from ice storms, record droughts and tornadoes plus flooding and a host of other challenges. Our strong Christian principles and an unabashed faith in Almighty God gives us the courage to face the fury.
GOD Bless Texas!

My son goes to Martin HS in Arlington... says that a few of his friends have heard from their parents that their houses are GONE. The roof at the elementary school when my son went had its roof torn off (don't know if they mean roofing or structure). Mayor Cluck has declared a disaster.
On WBAP (Mark Davis’ home station) reported that some of the tilt wall buildings in Kennedale (south of Arlington) have collapsed.
My home is ok and my son is safe - thank God. Lots of people need lots of prayers.

Chill pill, af. We’re all stressed today, no need to parse words.
I’m an old Texas gal, quite well acquainted with weather terminology, both proper and colloquial. So a funnel on the ground is a tornado. Maybe you can lecture me on whether “twister” is a proper term??
They’re now saying there were no kids in the school. Since Forney is east of Dallas, they may well have had time to dismiss and get them all home before the storms rolled in there. I don’t know. Arlington and Dallas schools did indeed shelter in place, in lockdown.

Yes, Shneider Trucking in Dallas got gobsmacked. That is what all the orange trailers were. The Flying J truck stop is next to it (they WERE really flying today)
I hunkered down here and turned off the laptop, just in case. But Irving was spared.

I checked. Forney ISD sheltered in place.
Our schools all have emergency plans and seem to have done an excellent job today in protecting our kids.

To: RitchieAprile
A little rain, that’s all, apparently. There was a nasty cell moving SW to NE through Denton County that clipped SE Cooke County, but I don’t think Cooke got any damage.
Farm and family home there.

Im sorry, but what is a tilt wall building? That is a building made from concrete panels. The panels are poured flat on the slab and then tilted up into place. They are like hugh (sic) card houses if thry don't have a strong roof structure and proper lateral bracing.
