It is amazing how the cars are untouched and still in their driveway’s while the homes are leveled.

I’m an old Texas gal, quite well acquainted with weather terminology, both proper and colloquial. So a funnel on the ground is a tornado. Maybe you can lecture me on whether “twister” is a proper term??

Circular storms have a number of colloquial names. In some parts of the US Tornado Alley, tornadoes or twisters are called cyclones. In the Indian Ocean, hurricanes are called cyclones and in the Bay of Bengal, they are also called tornadoes. To a meteorologist, cyclones are areas of low atmospheric pressure.

I am only guessing here... but cars are designed to withstand 100 MPH wind while older homes that don't have tie-down straps connecting the rafters to the top plates are susceptible to uplift.

Very scary day. So far, my daughter-in-law and dog and safe in the laundry room at home. My son and grandson are safe at my son’s Arlington office, and one tornado passed too close to them. My two younger grandchildren are still locked down at school. Praying they all make it home safely and there are no more tornadoes today! Hope all of you DFW Freepers are safe.

Hubby went to pick up our daughter at school in Frisco and he ended up on lock down too! Mean while I’m at work in Addison, my floor is IT, and we discovered that all the other floors were hunkered in the stairwells while we all kept working and conversing about how dark it is outside! Was listening to WBAP and they said something about a tornado touched down around Keller springs and the tollway, anyone else hear that? Hopefully the drive home won’t be too crazy!

We have friends there. Going to try to call, have no idea if we’ll get through on the phone.

Truck trailers aren’t very aerodynamic. Their L/D ratio sucks.

All kidding aside, I hope there were no deaths and as few injuries and as minimal damage as is possible as a result of the many tornadoes in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex. My prayers are with all of those affected.

Seems to be southern part of the Metromess — Arlington, Lancaster got hit hard.

20-30 homes damaged in Forney area.

ANY place in the path of the overall storm can be in danger. It is going to be a rough night in east Texas. Okla and AR and LA may be in the path later tonight.

Round Rock should be OK, the storms were NE of there. Our daughter is in that general area too.

Our friends in Rock Wall are ok, PTL. Lots of damage in Forney, south of them I think.

There's a storm chaser with a web cam attached to his dashboard.
He is broadcasting a live web stream while he goes looking
for trouble in the form of new tornadoes.

From what I have seen so far, he's pretty close to finding it.

Prayers extended for all in the path of this storm.

20-30 homes damaged in Forney area.

A lot of the damage to the homes there can be attributed to the shoddy workmanship of the illegals who build the structures. A properly-constructed home will, of course, have some damage but not to the extent suffered by the slip-shod work by the illegals who swarm all over Texas.

The well-built, solid homes in places like Highland Park were constructed by real Americans. I've never heard of any significant tornado damage there.

This is just another reason why the borders must be secured and deportations ought to be the rule.

I would expect that liberals and DemonRATS are taking pleasure in the suffering of North Texas. They hate us because of our Conservatism and our unwavering Christian values.

But because of our pro-God, pro-gun and pro-life stance here in Texas, we're equipped to handle disaster better than most. Some of the areas hit hardest, though, were home to what leftists do reside in the area such as Lancaster and the southern portion of Dallas County.
