The article is correct about the problem of a convention fight to settle things:

...the convention finishes on August 30, and early voting starts in many states 30 days after that. I think our candidate’s going to need more time to lay out the case against Barack Obama.”

Waiting until September right before the voting begins to run ads for Romney (or whoever else) is about as stupid as we can get.
