Democrats boycott Coke, Walmart over voter ID laws

Democratic officials Wednesday launched a two-pronged attack on states with new laws requiring identification before voting, the highlight being a call to boycott Coke, Walmart and others that back a leading organization pushing for voter ID laws.

“We are organizing. We are not agonizing,” said Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., who is leading a parallel Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s effort to get government identification into the hands of the estimated 2-3 million Democrats who don’t have one. “We have staffed up,” he said.

Officials from another party-backed group, Color of Change, kicked off a boycott of Coke and other financial backers of the American Legislative Exchange Council which supports new voter ID laws. Other supporters include Walmart and Koch Industries. The boycott call started with a tweet (@CocaCola is helping undermine voting rights. Tell them to stop) and a webpage. The group also has tied the Council to the Trayvon Martin shooting case.

Those efforts came on the heels of a new report released Wednesday by the Center for American Progress condemning new voter idenfication laws in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Kansas and Wisconsin.

These boycott things have been blowing up in the Left's face lately.

This will be no different.

Their gangster tactics aren't scaring people any more.

The Dems have hated Wal-mart since it first opened its doors.

Nothing new here.

Interesting that they’re only targeting a few of the states with voter ID laws.

Its amazing to me that the same people who do not want documentation for voting in a general election, not only DEMAND identification in a union election, they want the voter’s choice made public.

The dead voters have proper ID,the Dems are more worried about illegals not getting to vote.

Why would any sane American object to voter registration verification?
What could be the motivation of the objectors? /sarc.

I live on Coca Cola & I shop at Wal-Mart for a number of reasons. I live rural & there are 2 Wal-Marts which have a larger array of items all at ONE location for my shopping needs. With the price of fuel, I usually only shop one a month & I don’t need to be shopping at 7-9 stores to get wht I can get all at one time at Wal-Mart. I can even buy a newspaper & eat lunch at Subway or McDonald’s inside the store, where I am safe.

African-Americans have been boycotting Coke for over a century.

Hadn't noticed.

I go to Walmart 1-2 times a week, and I've seen plenty of Coke in blacks' carts.

Boycotts are usually a childish form of retaliation.
