Another Trayvon Martin case? Black retired Marine is shot and killed by police in his own home

In November, Kenneth Chamberlain's heart device went off. Police officers responded to the medical emergency by shooting him to death.

The police officers originally were not charged with any crimes. But Chamberlain's family has tried to publicize his death, and the Westchester District Attorney's Office confirmed this week that the case will be presented to a grand jury within a month, the Daily White Plains reported today.

Chamberlain was a 68-year-old, black retired Marine living in a public housing project. On November 19, a medical alert device for his heart accidentally went off, triggering a response from public safety, the New York Daily News reported. When police officers came and knocked on his door, Chamberlain didn't open it, saying he was fine and didn't need help. Police officers then snapped the lock and entered Chamberlain's home. They Tasered him and then shot him. He died in the hospital two hours later.

The police officers had claimed that Chamberlain attacked them with a hatchet and a knife, and that they were acting in self-defense. They have not released the name of the officer who shot Chamberlain, the Daily White Plains reported Monday.

I hope they keep it up, they will cry wolf one too many times. Even the most ignorant American will have to start getting fatigued.

No thanks, we've already invested so much into Trayvon, we don't want to lose focus.

Completely, utterly, totally different set of circumstances from Trayvon.

Not EVERY unfortunate thing that happens to a black man is the result of some deep, racist conspiracy.

We are saddened to lose a Marine in any case.

It sounds to me like the “Stand On the Necks of the Populace” laws under which the police operate need to be revisted.

Are we ever going to get a story published regarding black on white criminal acts?

Like the two british tourists in FL slain earlier this year.

This is not about who’s doing what to who as much as journalistic integrity.

Wake me up when we start getting the complete picture.

Sheesh.

Another Trayvon Martin case?

Other than the victim being black, I see so similarities. ??

I read this, this morning. The ONLY similarity to the T Martin case is that both decedents were black. NOTHING ELSE ties them together. But that will probably not stop Al and Jesse and all from having a bunch of rallies to demand their rights....

The perception is that a racist can shoot a black person and not be prosecuted.
I’m not saying that happened in either case, but that is the perception of the honestly indignant.

I predict another “black churches are burning” crisis story.

(it turned out it was all insurance money arson but the facts never really matter)

While we may be saddened by the loss of this Marine, the left just views it as a baby killer getting his just desserts.

What happened to the two people that were shot by cops in separate incidents? One a woman who had pulled over somewhere and the other a man who was shot while the kids were in the backseat?

Within the past two months...

Almost never hear of the police shooting white marines..
Is the season closed on shooting black marines?..
Do you have to buy a tag to go on your badge to do it?..
Is it poaching?..

In florida the season is closed on shooting black burglars..
I’m pretty sure they are not endangered..
Maybe they have to 20 years old before you can shoot them..

Chamberlain was a 68-year-old --- They Tasered him and then shot him.

Other than the race angle, this looks like an advanced version of Obamacare to me.

'I had a Heart attack, nobody was home and I lay on the floor for 12 hours' The Life Alert went off and summoned the police. When the police arrived, they entered my house and shot me'

What a great ad that would be for Life Alert??? In a country where you're not to die from natural causes anymore, such is the pathos of the USA in 2012, nobodies allowed to die anymore.

This one is in the family lawsuit phase. The towns that have police members in the county SWAT team are being sued now...

Since when do cops respond to medical calls? Don't they have paramedics? If the guy is lucid, and refuses treatment, the responders have no choice but to leave.

This story is fishy.
