Judge Dismisses Assault Charges Against High School Footballers
Detroit CBS ^ | 4/4/12 | WWJ

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) – A judge has dismissed assault and battery charges against four high school football players who were accused of starting an on-field shoving match last October.

WWJ’s Florence Walton was in the courtroom when 20th District Judge Mark Plawecki dismissed the misdemeanor charges against the 17-year-old Star International Academy football players – Mohamed Elfatih Ahmed, Fanar Al-Furat Al-Asady, Hadee Mohamaud Attia and Ali Maniff Bajjey.

The judge said although the students’ behavior on the field was deplorable, football is a brutally violent sport.

“If we criminalize these players’ actions, we criminalize nearly every football game ever played. If we criminalize these actions, we criminalize every pitcher who has intentionally thrown at a batter, and every vagrant elbow thrown beneath the basket,” said Plawecki.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred during the final minutes of a playoff game last year, as Star International Academy was about to be defeated by Westland Lutheran High School 47-6.

Referees told the players on the field that Westland’s quarterback was going to take a knee to run out the clock, are warned players not to react violently. Instead, police say several Star players burst through the offensive line and laid out the quarterback, 15-year-old P.J. Guse, who suffered a grade III concussion and missed some school as a result.

You play to the whistle. Sometimes, teams that are beaten will rush the kneel. If they do, you block. If you are not going to block, then you shouldnt be on the field. This is not about religion.

Is this your idea of playing to the whistle?

"After the snap, however, the four arrested Star players burst through the line and allegedly manhandled Lutheran’s quarterback. Police said they ripped off his helmet, threw him to the ground and punched and kicked him repeatedly."

I think the judge said you can beat the bacon out of the Muzzies next time as long as there is game and you are on the field.

The Christian school should drop the terrorist school off it’s schedule and when asked why explain that they only play human teams, not animals.

moslems should be shunned from society. no one should do any business with them, or even talk to them (other than to share the gospel. They should not be allowed to buy or sell. They should not be allowed to own property.

In short they should be kicked out of this country or executed as, by adhering to islam, they are declaring themselves to be enemies of these United States

This judge is clueless as to what football is. It is a game of controlled contact within a framework of rules. Sportsmanship should be part of the game, if these high school players are coached properly. It is not a lawless street brawl.

The brawl started by the Muslim players was clearly outside the scope of those rules. In fact it occurred when the clock had expired and the game was over! The players were certainly aware that the game officials at that time had no power over them. There could be no 15 yard penalties and no ejections. Furthermore, it was the last game of the year, so there could be no suspensions for future games for the seniors.

Given these circumstances and the fact that badly beaten Star Academy could have reasonably expected to lose (it had won only two games in the last six seasons!), it's entirely possible that the end of season brawl was preplanned, perhaps for weeks. The fact that the opponent was a Christian school might well have factored into their perverse thinking.
