Cecil Roberts: 'Lisa Jackson Shot Us'

The President of the United Mine Workers of America says the regulation of carbon emissions from coal is not just an American issue.

"You have to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions throughout the world. You can't just regulate them through the EPA of the United States," Cecil Roberts said on Tuesday's MetroNews Talkline.

Roberts says he thinks the federal Environmental Protection Agency is exceeding its authority with proposed new regulations for required greenhouse gas limits for all new coal fired power plants.

He says those limits will shut down the development of new plants since the levels cannot be reached without the help of carbon carbon technology. That technology is not yet widely available.

"Coal is the fastest growing energy source in the world and they've decided, at the EPA, well, we're going to control what goes into the atmosphere worldwide by halting the construction of coal fired facilities in the United States," Roberts said.

"It doesn't work, for one thing, and, the second thing, it is just devastating for our economy."

The EPA is now accepting comments on the proposed new emissions limits which, if finalized, would be 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt hour of power produced.

When they were released last week, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said the regulations are necessary.

She said the following: "Right now, there are no limits to the amount of carbon pollution that future power plants will be able to put into our skies and the health and economic threats of a changing climate continue to grow.

“those limits will shut down the development of new plants since the levels cannot be reached without the help of carbon carbon technology”

Well now, how do you suppose they calculated the new limits?

These @$$hats in the White House WANT energy, industry, and the economy in America shut down!
That’s their plan!

Obama told them he was going to do this if he got elected and they still supported him financially and voted for him.

In fact, I would bet they are still supporting him financially and that they will still vote for him in November.

Cecil, Cecil, Cecil.

Obama told you he was going to shut down the coal industry. You supported him. And now, you’ll support him again.

And when what’s left of your membership vote you out, you won’t understand what happened.

Coal miners are not people to be messed with. You’ll be lucky if all they do is vote you out.

Now, why do I think Roberts is just trying to inoculate himself against the ire of his own members who had to vote for Obama and will now be out of work?

Nobody can figure out how to calculate the new permissible air emission limits.

End users can’t interpret the new laws to even figure out what technology they would need to add or upgrade to be compliant. So they request proposals for outlet emissions that are not obtainable with current technology and then do nothing.

If you lined up a multiclone dust collector, electrostatic precipitator, SCR, baghouse and FGD scrubber the outlet emission guarantees end users are asking for can’t be achieved.

With the current cost of a new (utility size) FGD scrubber alone being in the $500 million to one billion price range. The new scrubbers increase pressure in the existing air pollution control equipment so it typically has to be modified, expanded, and rebuilt concurrently.

It’s a given where this mess is headed.

Hey Cecil, do you remember when you elected Obama? That was the moment that the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. And it was the moment your union became obsolete.

Romney better learn to assign motives to these clowns.

They haven’t “failed”!

They have in fact SUCCEDED in passing laws and regulations designed to destroy America.

Obama's useful idiot. CO2 is plant food.

“Then they came for the ‘tradeunionists’. Since I am not a ‘tradeunionist’ I can only say that, “Be careful of who you support. They may betray you.”

Hahahahahaha!!! The United Mine Workers of America’s homepage in 2008 was an endorsement for The Won despite him promising to shut down coal mines.

I have been a member of both the IAW and UAW.

Union members are the very army used to bring class warfare to the streets.

They seem singularly unaware of how they act against their own interests.

The union bosses and their mob boss associates are the very elites they proclaim to oppose.

The unions daily behavior is to bite the very hand that feeds them.
That reality is why unions found it necessary to move from the trades to the government sector.
