Former Law Professor Says Obama Misspoke on Supreme Court
fox news pheonix ^ | 4/4/2012 | NewsCore

Constitutional law scholar Laurence Tribe, a Harvard Law School professor and former mentor to President Barack Obama, said the president "obviously misspoke" earlier this week when he made comments about the Supreme Court possibly overturning the health care law.

Tribe, who calls the president one of his best students, said in an interview, "He didn't say what he meant ... and having said that, in order to avoid misleading anyone, he had to clarify it."

Tribe said he saw no reason for the president to express his views on the matter, because everyone already knows he wants the case upheld.

"I don't think anything was gained by his making these comments and I don't think any harm was done," Tribe said, "except by public confusion."

The dust-up began Monday, when Obama was asked about the law and said it would be a prime example of judicial overreach if the Supreme Court ruled against it.

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," he said.

"Tribe, who calls the president one of his best students..."

If Obama was one of his best students, that's not saying much for his teaching skills.

the reason the white house, larry tribe etc are speaking out is because peeps know kagan leaked and it is coming back on her. The idiot obama spoke out shortly after getting the secret vote count. The supremes know who leaked and kagan is running for cover.

According to Wikipedia he is 30-27-3 in cases argued before SCOTUS and Federal Appeals courts, not exactly a steller record, it would seem.

My favorite loss: 2000 - Bush vs. Gore

"Carney said the president "obviously believes" the Supreme Court can and does overturn laws passed by Congress. "He certainly was not contending that the Supreme Court doesn't have as its right and responsibility the ability to overturn laws passed by Congress as unconstitutional," Carney said."

Carney is clearly retarded.

It’s my contention that lefties like Obama study constitutional law solely to figure our ways around the constitution. There is no way these people actually believe in the greatness of the constitution. They are only looking for ways to use the constitution to destroy the constitution.

Is everyone from Harvard stupid? This guy, and Barry, seem to prove it.

You're making an erroneous assumption here...but one that's easy to reach.Although at a glance it could only appear that stupidity is Osama Obama's (and Tribe's) problem,on closer examination it becomes clear that *amorality* is what we're seeing.

Ever see that creepy guy who whispers in the kids’ ears in Willy Wonka? I’m convinced Obama’s handlers are always at work, but they’re not whispering about Wonka bars.

“Is everyone from Harvard stupid?” 97.8% are stupid(not in IQ) In my days that I owned a consulting Co. I instructed my retained searach division to round file all resumes’ from Harvard MBA’s and Lawyers(most couldn’t run a lenonade stand). Harvard MBA have tanked more businesses than great recession. Not denying that Larry offered a lot of useless counsel in Bush v Gore but the loss belongs strictly to David Boies and his attempt to run a garbage truck through a sinkhole in Florida's election laws.

Amen! Thanks for the info...that brought a smile to my face!

As far as I'm concerned, that ruling was Divine Intervention, and I'm not surprised He stuck Tribe with the loss!

Blame your enemies. It’s what Obama does every time he opens his mouth. Of course he meant what he said.

Surely, there must be no greater humiliation than when college professors must come to one’s defense on the very subjects they “taught” us. Of course, then, it’s probably the professor’s “fault.”
