Democrats accuse Romney of sandwich bribery
The Chicago Tribune ^ | April 3, 2012 | Morgan Little

The going rate for a vote in Wisconsin, if you believe the state’s Democratic Party, is as low as a submarine sandwich. After Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul D. Ryan joined together to serve up free sandwiches at Cousins Subs in Waukesha, the Democratic Party sent out a press release contending that by serving up the free food, the campaign had violated Wisconsin law.

Anyone who thinks this is 'no big deal' hasn't lived in Wisconsin for the past year. The Government Accountability Board (which only holds Republicans accountable) is very biased and the media is with the Democrats.

It's too bad that Paul Ryan was foolish enough to join Romney in this bit of stupidity.

If there’s someone who knows how cheaply votes may be purchased it’s a Democrat politician.

A sub sandwich probably cost about the same as a pack of cigarettes, which is what they hand out in exchange for registration in Philly.

That said, I hope it sinks him so we can get a candidate I am able to at least hold my nose and support. As bad as McCain was, at least he is a war hero.

For decades, the Donks have been handing out packs of Marlboros in exchange for a vote.

Wisconsin Democrats pick up their “voters” at homeless shelters, give them a ride to the polls and give them a pack of cigarettes.

By the sound of the law and what they were up to, the Dems are right in this one.

I remember they caught a lady from Park Avenue in New York handing out Marlboro's to the homeless to vote Democrats.

Trust me, none of that matters. What will matter is that Romney broke WI campaign laws. The TV stations are all liberal, the major state newspaper, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, is the official mouthpiece of the Democrat party.

This is pretty much the last thing we needed with Walker's recall election coming up in June. And for Paul Ryan to be part of it - well, Obama's people will be determined to make it a big deal as well.

Obama hands out billions to selected firms, and receives millions in campaign kickback cash, and the MSM is silent.

Romney hands out a few sandwiches and it's front page news.

Clearly the dems are right on this one. After all, they don’t have to pay ANYTHING for all the dead votes they get. Likewise, all the double, triple and quadruple votes don’t cost a penny. It’s easy to see who has the superior moral position on this issue.

It isn’t free if you have to pay for it with a vote!

LOL! The Desperation from the Santorum crowd is much bigger than any free sandwich.

America is on the verge of Economic collapse, the Deficit has increased by about 8 Trillion in just 4 short years, Inflation is running away and the Middle East is on the verge of a Nuclear Holocaust.

The Republican Primary is in utter shambles, infighting caused by the malcontented base has reached the point of borderline psychotic, determined to self destruct. And very few seem to give a damn that because of all this chaos, the American voters are starting to favor the Democrats again. Some among the base, even prefer that Obama win because one of their own is viewed to be even worse than Obama or Satan himself.

Considering the consequences, why It is more important for your side to help the Democrats make an epic case out of a free sandwich, in hopes of destroying what little credibility our side has left? The Democrats certainly don't have to lift a finger to destroy our candidates, our side is gladly doing that all on their own.

I am not a Santorum supporter. I am a Scott Walker supporter and if you think this will be helpful to re-electing Walker on June 5th, you’ve got another think coming.

Just to get your mind working - how would reporting the subs to the GAB help Santorum? The Wisconsin primary is over and nothing is going to change the results.

Scott Walker is not running for President.

In regards to sandwichgate, what is your motive? You seem to be going out of your way to condemn our side and convince the rest of us that Romney and Ryan are guilty of ruining Walker's case.

Right on. I still remember the Milwaukee “walking around money”, as Donna Brazile called it, being used to get homeless people to vote Democrat.

The media and the Democrats (the same thing) suck.

Wouldn’t GAB have to do something about the free ribs picnic the dems threw in with their ride to the polls during the last recall?

Did Romney pay for them? Maybe Cousins was passing out the free food and Romney was just a part time employee.
