The United Nations flag came down outside the Hennepin County Government Center last week after commissioners unanimously voted to fly only the U.S., Minnesota and county flags over the red-brick plaza facing Minneapolis City Hall.

I'm sure there is more behind this story such as good conservative activism to quietly put a little fear into the commission.
Let me know that and I'll see if someone can't go have a talk with them...
Why would anyone want to raise it in the first place?
Shouldn’t have been there to begin with but OK - progress is progress.
“...In a blog posting, Commissioner Jeff Johnson wrote that he intended to bring the issue to the board before the radio show raised it. “We owe no allegiance to the United Nations and its flag does not belong on the plaza and certainly not flying next to Old Glory,” he wrote...”
About damn time!
Nah... Hennepin is just as chock full of Commies, it's just that up here they are more likely to be Lutheran as well. Just makes 'em harder to pick out in a crowd.
I think you can thank John D. Rockefeller.
He donated the land in NYC for the UN headquarters.
Should tip that building into the East River.
It still doesn't tell me who in Hennepin County thought it'd be a good idea to fly the UN flag in Minnesota.
The U.N. banner first went up in the plaza in 1986, when the County Board voted 4 to 2 to fly it alongside the U.S. and state flags. The resolution was sponsored by former Commissioner John Derus. Commissioner Randy Johnson, the only current board member who was on the board then, abstained from voting.
In 1986, the County Board voted 4 to 2 to fly the U.N. flag. The resolution was sponsored by former Commissioner John Derus. Then lone commissioner from the time, who is still on the board, abstained on the vote.
If they're Commies or leftists, they can't be Lutheran. They may, however, be Lufauxran.
Looks like he’s turned lobbyist...
Part of the gambling mafia too it looks like.
And why the hell was this EVER a question?!?!?
Thank you Minnesota.
We were in Colorado at Christmas and the first thing my three-year-old grandson noticed was that they had the wrong flags flying. Asked what he meant, “They should only have the American flag, the Texas flag, the Don’t Mess with Me flag and the Home Depot flag.”
