Romney opens lead in Santorum's backyard
Mitt Romney Leads In New Pennsylvania Poll ^ | 04/05/2012 | Doug Mataconis

Posted on 04/05/2012 6:49:16 AM PDT by Ocarterma

Two days after losing three more primaries, Rick Santorum appears to be in trouble in his home state:

Mitt Romney’s taken the lead in PPP’s newest poll of Rick Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania. Romney has 42% to 37% for Santorum with Ron Paul at 9% and Newt Gingrich at 6%. The numbers represent a dramatic turnaround from when PPP polled the state a month ago. Romney’s gained 17 points, going from 25% to 42%. Meanwhile Santorum’s dropped 6 points from 43% to 37%, for an overall swing of 23 points in the last four weeks.

Your entire post expresses my sentiments to a T.

Thank you LLS.
I tore up my renewal form for the GOP today...and boy did that feel good. The GOP-E’s can have their Rinos.

Let’s be sure to stay in touch and put the Tea Party’s feet to the fire. This is where the Conservative movement’s strength is supposed to lie. If they wuss out, then we can start our own Conservative, Constitutional Reaganesque party. WE THE PEOPLE are still out here!

Maybe we can call it. THE SHINING CITY ON A HILL PARTY.

The only person doing “hate” on this thread is you, Mary.

Wow. Maybe I need to brush up on my definition of "hate", when I look at the things that people are saying about Rick Santorum: things like (just on this thread alone) hypocrite, insane obsession, stubborn, arrogant and unreasonable, his ridiculous belief, pathological liar, and thief.

Maybe I'm wrong, but, if people were saying things like that about me, I would assume that they didn't like me very much.

P.S. Thanks, Mountain Mary, for working for Rick!

"If you believe you can live with four more of this Destroyer of the American Republic, Barack Hussein Obama, God be with you!!!

Well, that's the thing. I can't live with four more years of Obama. But I also can't cast a vote for everything that God sees as evil. That would be an act of rebellion against God, IMO.

"But.....please, no remorse or regrets when Dictator Obama steals your freedom, your liberty, your opportunity, your country from you, your family, your loved ones, as he surely will when you allow him to be re-elected!!! Have a great day!!!"

The only way I will be "allowing" Obama's re-election is if Obama wins by one vote, and that's not going to happen. The blame for the upcoming loss will lay at the feet of the GOP and the fools who supported Romney in the primaries. They're the ones who gave us the worst possible candidate anyone could dream up, and I am NOT going to accept any of the blame for that.

“most Republicans are RINOs or even liberal. So look for voters in PA to reject him.”

Which makes him more attractive- if the rinos hate him.

Thank you Sun. I knew that the imposters on this site who have been saying that Rick is disliked in Pa. weren’t telling the truth. I know folks from Pa. who have a great deal of respect for the whole Santorum family.

What I think is that the pseudo Myth lovers who have tried to take over here and bully everyone...are former Newties who are so bitter that their guy crashed and burned..that they have come over to Myth’s cult to avenge ..er someone.
Very intelligent Mitties!!!

Don’t believe the polls. They are being driven by those who are trying to shut Rick down. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I’m in PA and though fully in Newt’s court... to keep Romney at bay I will vote for Santorum here. Much reluctantly I might add ...no... more than reluctantly.

I hate this primary....worse than when McCain screwed us.

I agree with everything you say, C of A.

We who have decided on principle that we will not vote for Mittens need to keep reciting our points in response to those who get in our faces about it. And since when is my vote anyone else’ business?
It’s gonna be a long election season and from the looks of it, a bitter one too.

I’m already at odds with Rino friends who always said they were Conservative but are now embracing Willard as though he were the second coming of Christ.

These same people don’t have a clue what it means to be a Constitutional Conservative.
Mark Levin is so comforting right now. But he does say he’ll stump for Mittens if need be..and I hope he changes his mind on that.

You are so off base about Newt supporters it isn’t funny!!!

We’ll vote how we have to to keep Romney off the stump...it has nothing to do with liking or not SAntorum...it’s the game which is in play here in Pa.

Some people would do better just buttoning their lip...and it’s people as you that confirm all the reasons NOT to vote for Santorum.

Awesome MM!!! Any details you would like to share?

I’m not too busy at work, so I was listening and FReeping on the Rush live thread. During one of the newsbreaks, there is audio of Myth in Harrisburg telling his mittens to “go out and get Pennsylvania for him!”. All I could imagine was the Wicked Witch of the West and flying monkeys...

Losing your home state in a presidential primary is tantamount to ending your political career.

That is where Santorum is heading.

It's too bad that conservatives couldn't unite behind someone who could actually debate 0bama and win.

To me, one of the strongest signs that Santorum is not really conservative was his absurd vote against right to work. There's simply no excuse for it, union state or not.

Anyone who can't support right to work is simply not a conservative. Such a vote represents a total betrayal of conservative principals on labor.

We'll have to wait and see what the GOP nominee, Mitt Romney, has to say about the issue during the general election cycle.

The “shame” is acquiescing to GOPe who have preselected our losing RINO candidate. Santorum, warts and all, is the LAST man standing against Obamney 2.0.

The “original” (Version 1.0) will push us into outright socialism by the end of his fifth year in office; Version 2.0 will slow the pace towards socialism a tad, but just like 1.0 will give us Gay marriage; no restrictions on abortions; liberal jurists “who the Dems will approve!” and of course his signature “ObamneyCare.”

No thanks...

Attackers? For pointing out that you and others should do research on Rick Santorum?

Looking at only a few aspects of a candidate will get you a nightmare of a Presidency.

Rick Santorum/Jimmy Carter both are deeply religious men, married to the same woman for decades with nice families. Both men are social conservatives. Neither man is a fiscal conservative. Both have been political failures and for the same reasons: neither one was good at their elected job.

Republicans voted for Jimmy Carter because he wasn't Gerald Ford! Wow, was that ever stupid.

There is seven more months until the election in November.

A very great deal can happen politically in seven months. In politics that is a life time. I don't support Romney but other than repeatedly posting threads about his Fascist positions, there isn't much to say because he is two-dimensional and without depth, a phony.

Romney has made it known that Santorum is unacceptable as a running mate. Same towards Gingrich. This is an intended shutout of Conservatives because the Globalists, the elites of the Republican Party, don't give a damn about our God-given rights. The last thing they want is to be associated with people who cling to guns and bibles and believe in the U.S.Constitution.

This is huge, Mary, absolutely huge. Ashamed of myself? Not bloody likely. I feel like the town crier, trying to get people to wake-up and realize we're going to lose this nation and Santorum’s past record proves he isn't the solution.

Newt Gingrich is the only candidate who has actually changed government. He allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority which directly led to the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Under a Republican president, George W. Bush, the Republican Congress, which included Rick Santorum, added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge.

How much should I really care that Newt’s fabulous colleagues think his reemergence would be a disaster for Republicans? Santorum supporters must remember that the elections of 2010 was not a merit promotion; the Republicans were the only alternative in town.

If you neither trust nor like Newt Gingrich, so what. That's your opinion, and the fact you keep dragging old crap out that reads as though a talking point list from the Democratic Party, tells me nothing will convince you otherwise.

The Democrats want either Romney or Santorum as they can be steamrolled.

Gingrich eats Democrats for lunch.

Nope on the fat lady. There are polls that have Rick up. This is the same thing that happened when he was counted out, then came back to win.

There are polls that show him up. And there are plenty of states left. I’m in California and plan to vote for him. I will not follow the media, the Party, or any of the naysayers.

Go Rick!

PPP is a liberal pollster. There are others like Rasmussen who have him up.

I will be totally honest with you... I think that this has been the weakest and most lame slate of candidates the gop has ever fielded... Newt and Santorum were both flawed and have history that would normally stop me from voting for either man for dog catcher. I am not looking for perfection but I could vote for Newt or Rick. romney is so much worse... so far to the left that it is awful that he calls himself a republican... and he is a gun grabbing, baby killing, gay marriage promoting socialist liar. He will never see my vote.

I live in Mississippi so my State will go for the republican without a doubt. I will vote down ballot for every Conservative running for office but romney... I would no more vote for that pos than I would any dim... by his own admission to Judy Woodruff in 2001... he is a dim in every way but party registration. You Tube has the video if you would like to see it.
