Romney opens lead in Santorum's backyard
Mitt Romney Leads In New Pennsylvania Poll ^ | 04/05/2012 | Doug Mataconis

Two days after losing three more primaries, Rick Santorum appears to be in trouble in his home state:

Mitt Romney’s taken the lead in PPP’s newest poll of Rick Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania. Romney has 42% to 37% for Santorum with Ron Paul at 9% and Newt Gingrich at 6%. The numbers represent a dramatic turnaround from when PPP polled the state a month ago. Romney’s gained 17 points, going from 25% to 42%. Meanwhile Santorum’s dropped 6 points from 43% to 37%, for an overall swing of 23 points in the last four weeks.

Oh, some of us hard-line unreconstructed right-wing conservative Calvinists do oppose the “holy days.” I regularly work hundred-hour weeks, six days per week but nothing on the Lord's Day, which is the only biblical day of rest.

But would I publicly campaign on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday if I were a candidate for office? Probably not. Considering that Rick Santorum is a conservative Roman Catholic, taking four days off from campaigning for Easter makes sense. I don't agree with Santorum’s Catholicism but I certainly do not oppose him practicing what he professes.

Mark said he is demanding that obama tell us in the 80 plus Golf outings that he has had since he stole his office... how many women have played with him and we want their names... that is what Mark said.

Thank you for publicly restating your position here. We're conservatives, we believe in private property, and the owners of private property set the rules on how the property will be used.

I don't want to think about what decision I may need to make if Romney is the Republican nominee, and I'm focused on trying to prevent that from happening.

But I know this for sure... I'm not going to be pushing Mitt Romney on a site against the explicit warnings of the owner.

Romney can only have a black, female, lesbian as a VP.

And notice how absent the constant “out of the file” discourse has been on these fake debates:

Silence on their favorite “women’s right to choose” file question.

Silent on “the soaring cost of insurance premiums” (even with the fascist phony-care law attempt)

Silence on actual (type) of employment (fiscal vs. real employment creation)

Silence on what specific actual programs, Mr. Mandate, says he’ll eliminate.

Silence on why Mr. Mandate wasn’t re-elected as governor.

Assuming that Romney wins the R nomination, there will be a limited set of strategies that could realistically keep Obama from getting a second term. One will be in choosing the lesser of evils - voting for Romney. Sorry - the world often boils down to that bad of a choice.

The second thing to bear in mind is that Congress must be shored up with conservatives willing to roll back the regulatory power of the executive branch and its alphabet agencies. For too many years both R's and D's in Congress have ceded more and more power to the executive branch then hoped to win the big crap shoot that happens every four years. They have also been hesitant to call the Executive branch on overstepping its power cuz they think they can win the crap shoot next election.

You can't turn an ocean liner on a dime.

“I guess we’d better prepare ourselves, because both he and Sarah Palin will support Romney if he’s the nominee.”

Which is what was evident 6 months ago. Reading between the lines, there could not be any other outcome. There are not enough eligible voters in this country who are pure conservatives. Just reality. Like Rush, I live in Realville.

Yes, when Karen spoke to our group of Conservative women, she said that Rick becomes Dad/husband/handi-man as soon as he walks through the door. :-)

Daughter Sarah is lovely and poised. I asked if she would do a favor for me. Being mature beyond her 14 years, she cocked her head to one side and politely said “um?” to my stupid question.
I probably woulda said “sure” and what if the supporter, ie me, asked for something ridiculous like to have Rick come over to my house for lunch. lol

Anyway, what I said was, “will you please give Bella a kiss for me?”. Her whole face lit and up and she said, “of course I will”.

Class act family. Compare the Duggars(I met 12 of them the other night!) and Santorum kids to the Kardashians.

“Fat lady is singing again - it’s going to be another one of those “hold your nose and pull the lever” elections.”

This Conservative activist has held her nose and voted for a Rino for the last time.

Actually, Rino would be a kind word for Mittens. He’s a liberal.

No thanks. My contributions will be to support and work on helping US Senate and House, local and state Conservative candidates get elected to office, which is what I do best. ..though my last several candidates have lost. Hard to keep a stiff upper lip and keep going but I will.

Defeating Romney needs to be the goal, because I believe a Romney nomination runs a serious risk of re-electing President Obama.

On another note...should this go to convention the question is who are the delegates?..... How much money and deals will be swung around like a lottery winning.....

We are in sad condition when the highest bidder can buy anyone....and everyone has a price.

We will have a new supreme court justice by 2016 almost surely. Do you want another Scalia or another Ginsburg? Maybe these points are raised again and again because they are valid.

The blame does not go to the voter WOSG....it goes to lap of the GOP who abandoned conservatism and put romney out there...again!

Romney is pro-abortion...pro-homosexual and much more...you cannot require people to support him when he will play his cards to sustain his popularity with the democrates and liberals....and you're forgetting that we are accountable to a higher power than that of simply principle....we are accountable to God for what we support... regardless if an individual believes so or not.....I will not support that which Romney promotes.

We agree, CAWW.

I saw enough trouble at our local county caucus in Missouri to see firsthand what a brokered convention on a national level would look like — in a county where Santorum won our primary by a huge majority, the Romney people won a majority of the delegates to our district convention because the Santorum people were split and the Ron Paul people managed to divide the vote between moderate Santorum supporters, including most of the county party leadership, and more radical people who had a lot in common with Ron Paul. In St. Charles County, things got so bad that the police were called and the caucus was shut down. The end result is the way delegates voted may have had little to do with the preferences of the people who elected them.

Gingrich is a student of history. He knew what he was talking about when he reminded people of Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood's failed bid to become the 1920 Republican nominee. I knew about that uproar long ago because I live outside Fort Leonard Wood and I do my research, but Gingrich was presumably preparing people to understand just what kind of a knock-down drag-out fight a brokered convention would look like.

The chaos at the Reform Party convention with Pat Buchanan is the only parallel we have had in modern politics, and that wasn't even close to what a brokered Republican Party (or for that matter, Democratic Party) convention would be like. The Reform Party convention was a circus sideshow that people knew meant very little. To have that kind of chaos at a major party convention would be a very different thing.

There are reasons why the Democrats pushed so hard to get Obama enough superdelegates to prevent a 2008 brokered convention. The Democrats avoided the debacle of a brokered convention — barely — and Republican leaders have understandable reasons for trying to prevent that now.

So your God wants Obama to win re-election? Wow.

Might very well be if He intends this country's judgement to continue. He raised up Pharoah did he not? When Israel had turned her back on God.

Either way whoever wins...yes...it will be who God determines when all is said and done....for what purposes we will surely see.

"For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Romans 13

"He removes kings and establishes kings."... Daniel 2:21

"The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever He will"..... Daniel 25

Yet there is the example of King Saul....and King David.... The people demanded a king. Finally God granted their request and gave them exactly the kind of king they wanted; .tall, handsome and strong... He looked the part of a king... They got exactly what they asked for... Of course, God warned them of the consequences..... 1 Samuel 8:4-9....... They 'chose' the kind of king they wanted and that's exactly who God gave to them. ...On the other hand, God chose David..... What a difference!

I think the difference is when God "approves" or "ordaines" a leader. We know that Obama is not good for this country...we know the voters didn't heed the warnings....they got what they asked for. Does God approve of Obama...I think not.

" When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when 'the wicked' beareth rule, the people mourn"....Proverbs 29:2
