Indiana’s Governor Mitch Daniels shepherded the nation’s largest school voucher program throught the state legislature and everyone on this board considers him a Rino; Jindal does the same with a much smaller program and receives conservative kudos.
Pretty obviously, it’s more than their position on school vouchers that determines whether they are a RINO.
A big government republican can get things right, you know.
I hate smoking but I’d never welcome a dictator just to get rid of those nasty things.
Indianans should be throwing cigarettes off the docks in Gary to protest Daniels’ statist designs.
Plus, the GOP-E will tell you who is and isn’t a conservative.
==============The Republican establishment doesn’t look at Daniels as a conservative. It’s why the speech was good but they don’t look at him as a conservative. They look at him as a one of them, a moderate. They see him as a moderate. He’s strong conservative on budget matters, but outside of that? “No, no, he’s not an extremist racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe who appeals to the NASCAR hicks who are pro-life.” (interruption) Well, he called Obama an “extremist” but he did in a polite way after praising Obama first.===============
When did Reagan ever praise Carter?
And the republicans ***********STILL******** hate Reagan for never praising Carter.
I’m thankful!!! that Reagan took it to Carter.
No Daniels for me. Ever. I would stay home and be happy about it.
Daniels is not a RINO and I don’t think anyone denies he is a strong fiscal conservatives. I think some people take issue with his stance that we ignore social issues and some are a little skeptical that the GOPe seems to be trying to push him. Jindal, on the other hand, is clearly not a GOPe guy; in fact, I believe he is the only republican currently in office with NATIONAL name recognition that has not endorsed Romney (correct me if I’m wrong). Jindal is clearly independent, not so clear with Daniels.
