BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: At a school in Massachusetts, the school is the Stall Brook Elementary school in Bellingham. They just decided -- nobody had complained, they just decided -- to take the word "God" out of Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the USA." The idea was, it might offend somebody, and so before anybody's offended, we're going to take the word out. And we're just gonna replace it with "We all love the USA." Instead of "God Bless the USA." But when they did that, some parents applauded it. Other parents said, "What are you doing?" So to avoid controversy, they have now just decided they're gonna ban the song. The song is no longer allowed at the Stall Brook Elementary School in Bellingham, Massachusetts. Massachusetts!

What's Massachusetts known for?

Massachusetts is profoundly liberal.

What does that in mean?

"Open-minded, tolerant, accepting, understanding of all people even those with who we disagree with." Nobody had complained. Some of New Age, touchy-feely, do-good liberal in the school just decided, "You know what? This might bother somebody. It's God. Separation church and state." So then I saw on Fox today. They went down and interviewed a student, some little girl student. I shouldn't be surprised. (impression) "Well, you know, like, it really is with -- with God, loving our government. Uh, uh, I -- I -- I don't know. I -- I think it should stay but if it came out, well, you know, God and our government...." What is this God and our government? What about God and our country?

How do we take God out of this country? You can't! Look at George Washington's Thanksgiving address, the first one, his farewell address, it's on the money. "In God we trust." The House of Representatives has a chaplain. Frankly, I'm gonna tell you something: I don't think... You know, the story is there's just some do-gooder in there that wanted to avoid offend people. I don't think that's the case. I think these people are all activists, and they have an objective in mind, and that's to take God out of as much as they can in this country. It's full secularism on parade, no doubt in my mind. Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA is somehow determined to be potentially offensive at Stall Brook Elementary School, Bellingham, Massachusetts.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Fox 25 Eyeball News in Boston is reporting children at the Stall Brook Elementary School in Bellingham were told to sing "We love the USA" instead of "God Bless the USA." Lee Greenwood issued a statement: "Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song. The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title God Bless The USA.

"We can’t take God out of the song, we can’t take God out of The Pledge of Allegiance, we can’t take God off of the American currency. Let us also remember, the phrase God Bless the USA has a very important meaning for those in the military ..." Maybe what Greenwood ought to do is get together with Reverend Wright and record a new version of the song: "God..." What Reverend Wright said: "G-damn the USA." Anyway, we have a tune. By the way, "Hi, Katie! You are looking cute." We have our own version of this song, as they would prefer it sung, no doubt in Massachusetts.

(Parody song: We Hate the USA)

The EIB Network and Rush Limbaugh.

(continued playing of song)

White comedian Paul Shanklin, ladies and gentlemen. "We Hate the USA."

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here is Lee Greenwood's entire statement to Todd Starnes of Fox News. "Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song. The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title God Bless The USA. We can’t take God out of the song. We can’t take God out of The Pledge of Allegiance. We can’t take God off of the American currency. Let us also remember, the phrase God Bless the USA has a very important meaning for those in the military and their families, as well as new citizens coming to our Country. The song is played at every naturalization ceremony behind The National Anthem. If the song is good enough to played and performed in its original setting under those circumstances, it surely should be good enough for our children." Lee Greenwood

But it's not suitable at the school in Massachusetts. I watch some people talking about this earlier on TV. They were laughing about it as though, what a bunch of kooks and idiots at this school. And they may well be kooks and idiots. And in the past days, years, I mighta laughed at it, too. It's getting harder and harder to laugh at these people. It may be the best medicine, and it may be one of the most effective ways of dealing with them, but it's not gonna stop 'em. I just don't believe that it's some pointy-headed, egghead do-gooder sitting in there biting his or her fingernails worried that somebody's going to be offended. Why? Separation of church and state. I mean Massachusetts loves the fact that they are one of the cornerstone states of the founding of the country. And supposedly there's somebody at this school that's sitting around worried that a lawsuit might be forthcoming or that some parent might be offended by this. And so before anybody even says they're offended, we're gonna change the lyrics of the song. And when that doesn't work, okay, we'll just not use the song.

I think these activists are everywhere. What's the word I'm looking for? They've been planted there over the years like sleeper agents. They've been in there and they're all over the country. They're waiting to just pop up.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, Charles in Franklin, Massachusetts, welcome to the EIB Network. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Thank you for taking my call. You know, law enforcement dittos out to you.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I love what you do with the teas, giving money to disabled law enforcement and Marines. I'm quite a while ago because my nephews go to that Stall Brook school.

RUSH: In Bellingham?

CALLER: Yes, they do. (chuckles) It's the next town over, and the reaction to that --

RUSH: How old are your nephews?

CALLER: One is 13 and one is 18.

RUSH: Okay, so you got a 13- and an eight-year-old. Okay, do both of them go to this school?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Okay.

CALLER: Yep. And my daughters don't, thank God. But the reaction that they had when the parents brought this to their attention and complained was like a five-year-old having a tantrum.

RUSH: Wait a minute. I'm confused. I thought, I was under the impression that the school just took it upon themselves to do this, that there weren't any complaints. Am I wrong about that?

CALLER: Yeah, it came out to the parents and the parents complained and then the school -- in their knee-jerk typical liberal reaction -- decided that there's gonna be no songs at this event. You know, they had --

RUSH: Well, what happened was... Here's the report.

CALLER: -- a reaction like five-year-olds having a tantrum.

RUSH: The report from Fox Eyeball News in Boston is that however what happened, when somebody complained about God Bless the USA, the school said, "Okay we'll just say, 'We Love the USA,'" and then that caused people to complain, and then school said: To hell with it, we'll just not do the song at all anymore.

CALLER: Exactly. And that's what they do in Massachusetts. You know, we're behind enemy lines here and we're surrounded by these people. It's kind of like what the president did with the Supreme Court. You know, he's having a tantrum in public so that people will see that he's like, you know, trying to get his message across. And that's what this principal did. She said: "Okay, well, you know what? Your eight- and seven-year-olds aren't gonna sing any songs." It's ridiculous.

RUSH: Well, yeah, but let me tell you something. I don't believe this story that you've got some administrators or principal, whoever, that's quaking in his or her boots worried about offend people. I think you've got a secular activist in there. They're like sleeper cells. It's almost like Karl Marx, they froze his sperm and injected a bunch of women over these hundreds of years and these people have been born over these hundreds of years. And a bunch of little Marxists in the past 50 years have been born and grown up and have now infiltrated all these institutions and are doing their dirty work. I just don't believe that they're a bunch of namby-pamby, New Castrati, fearful-for-everything
people trying to be politically correct. I think we have secular activists here who are on a mission to get God out of as much of this country's day-to-day activity, traditions -- you name it -- as they can.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Oh. The school in Massachusetts has buckled and now the song is back in the program. Wel-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l. Ah, that didn't take long, did it? So the secular activist at this school in Massachusetts have relented for a while.

Lee Greenwood should be like the liberal performers and tell them they cannot use his work any longer.

They wouldn’t have dared edit that song, if the word was “Mohammed”.

Greenwood should just go hold a free concert titled How it was Written. Then at the opening he can talk about what the school did, then say this is how I wrote the song. You’re welcome to join in.

It’s just MassHoles being MassHoles - the majority of the state is that way. They aren’t going to change. They aren’t ashamed. They re-elected their governor and will vote for the big 0 in the fall.
