Where's the Map?
American Thinker ^ | 5 April 2012 | Jeff Lipkes

On March 13 the Orlando Sentinel published a map of the Twin Lakes community where Trayvon Martin was shot, but no one else seems to have reproduced it. Yet it's impossible to reconstruct the incident without referring to it.

George Zimmerman reports at the beginning of his 911 call that he's on Retreat View Circle, at 111, near the clubhouse, a block from the main entrance to the community, which is off Oregon Avenue. According to the Sentinel's map, the home Trayvon Martin was staying in was further down on Retreat View Circle. (You'll need to check maps.google to get all the street names.) So why doesn't Martin just keep on walking? Zimmerman is trailing him, not blocking his path. If he's really on his way to his dad's fiancee's home, why doesn't he just pick up his pace and continue on back to the house? He would not have had far to go: the house is less than 350 yards from where Zimmerman placed his call.

And what was the distance to the 7-Eleven to get candy and tea in the rain?

You do realize that the facts don’t matter a bit in this case? What matters to the race pimps is the hate-whitey agenda so any “facts” must be twisted to fit.

0.7, 0.8, 0.9...take your pick. Anyhow, right at a mile to the closest 7-eleven

I know, but no one’s trying to convert the race-pimps. I think at this point even a few CNN fans are getting a little skeptical, and stuff like this helps. They watch CSI.

Looking at google maps, it seems like more like 350 FEET, not YARDS.
Can anyone get the facts right?

Here is the thing that startles me about this deal:
Many people are claiming that the words of the 911 operator constitutes a “direct order” from the police. In fact, Nancy Grace went apoplectic while screaming those very words at a guest (I know, she is Sheila Jackson Lee stupid, but still...).

There are two things wrong with that claim:
1) The dispatcher is NOT the police - just a citizen - and should be considered such.
2) Even if they were policemen - a policeman telling you something over the phone CANNOT prohibit you from doing something that is perfectly legal, and the policeman saying not to over the phone (NOT on the scene and observing the situation) does not place ANY legal burden on you to act or not to act.

Are people really this stupid??????

According to google it is .02 miles to the 7-11 from the front gates. There is a 7-11 in the Sam's plaza.

Sure. But the dispatcher was simply giving a common sense suggestion.

Even trained officers one on one with someone will struggle. That's why more or less you have a partner. Now, a volunteer watch person, with probably less training than a officer might be put in a situation that is over his head.

Re: “Do Not Follow” Order

No emergency operator is going to tell a caller to pursue a possible criminal.

If the caller gets injured, if the criminal gets injured, if an innocent bystander gets injured, that means an INSTANT LAWSUIT.

Re: Distance To 7-11

Interesting lack of curiosity by the MSM on this subject.

No store clerks have been interviewed.

No video of Martin in a store or making a purchase.

No time line established.

If the MSM had ANYTHING that helps make Martin look like an innocent victim, it would be on the news.

But GZ says, “OK” in response to the dispatcher. He agrees. Then he says “he ran” and further along in the tape he has no idea when the guy is, and doesn’t want to give his address for that reason.

I believe that the dispatcher said "We don't need you to do that," not "Do not do that."

The dispatcher's comments were ambiguous, and were not instructions.

Thanks for the map and link, and thanks PhatHead for posting it originally. It’s very helpful. Is there a transcript of the call to the girlfriend? I thought all we had is a summary from the girl’s lawyer—who is convinced that Martin was “cornered” and then “pushed.”

No transcript, just what ‘they’ put out. That, and the time frame of the call lasting four minutes.
