White House press secretary Jay Carney tells the press corps that President Obama's attack on the Supreme Court was misunderstood because he was speaking in "shorthand" since he is a former professor of law.
Henry: The president is a former constitutional law professor. One of his professors is Laurence Tribe. He now says, in his words, the president “obviously misspoke earlier this week”, quote “he didn’t say what he meant and having said that in order to avoid misleading anyone, he had to clarify it.” I thought yesterday you were saying repeatedly that he did not misspeak. What do you make of the president’s former law professor saying he did?

There’s something you have to wonder about. If the President was this well versed on Constitutional law, and actually taught classes in Chicago....how many lawyers in the Chicago region think and practice law in this same manner today? This even makes you wonder if the Columbia Law School is graduating folks left and right like this....and we just haven’t realized it.

He is not a “former law professor.” He was an adjunct instructor, without tenure, never had more than a yearly contract, and he never published ANYTHING.
That’s presumably why Fr. Jenkins at Notre Dame gave him an Honorary Doctor of Law degree—because he never accomplished anything at all as an adjunct, and gave up his license to practice law.

It seems that Obama is saying that the personal mandate is a “political issue or question”, that the issue constitutionally should be resolved by branches of the government other than the Court. It has been argued recently in reapportionment cases and Nixon vs US (1995), but not successfully.
His class in election law was pretty small potatoes, just another undemanding elective to fill up students' schedules.
They would have learned what they needed to know to practice law from other teachers who presumably knew what they were talking about.
