"Santorum to 'Reengineer' Campaign"
National Review Online ^ | 4-5-12 | Robert Costa

Posted on 04/05/2012 8:46:36 PM PDT by taraytarah

Richard Viguerie, a veteran conservative activist and top Santorum supporter, tells National Review Online that Santorum is “reengineering” his presidential campaign.

“You can’t repeat the same behavior and expect different results,” he says. “We’ve got to do things different. We’ve got to reengineer the campaign. We’ve got to add things, take things out, and make changes. Everyone recognizes that, from the candidate on down.”

Earlier today, Viguerie, along with a group of movement leaders, met with Santorum at an office in northern Virginia. For over an hour, they discussed ways to revive his bid.

“We came up with a number of bold plans,” Viguerie says. “It’s obvious that we need to do things that aren’t minor tweaks. We need to make significant changes to the campaign.”

Love Viguerie and his website, conservativehq.com.

Watch out for the comments though...the trolls there are worse than FR!

So...now what is he going to steel from Mr. Newt. Even Romney is taking some of Mr. Newt’s talking points. Second fiddle, will always be second fiddle.

Mr. Newt is the answer, as he has always been! I am with Mr. Newt until he becomes the nominee. Hopefully, America will open their eyes before it is too late! If not, Mr. Newt will win it in Tampa! OK...flame away!

Shake the etch-a-sketch?

C'mon Rickety-clique: Face it. From here on you only embarrass yourself.

Santorum and Gingrich may possibly pull it off, if they pool their resources against the romney machine. If romney gets the nomintation, the democrat political machine will eat him alive.

Best of luck to Rick, and our entire country, so we don’t get Obama OR Romney!

All he has to do is attack Obama’s track record and quite attacking his opponents.

I’m still a Rick guy but I have to admit, I’ve seen the writing on the wall regarding his campaign. It’s only a matter of time. He had a good, strong campaign but allowed himself to be drawn into rabbit holes that took him off message. Newt and Mitt never allowed this to happen, staying focused and on message.

When the economy is good Americans vote morals. When the economy is bad Americans vote the economy. The latter is what this election will be about. We here on FR have a tendency to wax poetic about liberty and freedom, yet most Americans right now are just concerned about having a job, making a living and (hopefully) planning for the future. Newt and Mitt haven’t wavered from that message.

Steal from Newt? Because Newt was doing oh so much better?

Newt and Mitt are both establishment insiders, don’t expect big changes from either of them.

Especially liberal Mitt, if you think he is going to be conservative, you are insane

There is no issues campaign out there for Rick and Myth, but griping against Obama. They are both whiners with dubious legislative records chocked full of pander and self aggrandisement.

The gravitas on issues and problem solving has been owned lock, stock and barrel by Newt, since the opening salvo fired at the first debate forward.

Rick Perry said it in the common man’s language but he
stuttered. Newt says it smoothly (with a record to back it) to the world who would comprehend Newt.

The world never heard of Myth or Rick.

Kharis13, thank you for noticing the rabbit holes, but Rick wasn’t actually “drawn...off message”. Rick dove, with no provocation, headfirst into deep water and lead with his lip quite all on his own.

Newt has had the issues and the resolutions since the opening gate, IMHO. I am all for Newt trying to take the chaos to convention.

Romney was forced upon us. Rick is upon us because he was hanging around as the only alternative to Uncle Nutty after Romney took out Newt, with cold hard cash in Florida.

That was the same as a cash injection to the Rickster campaign, in an open field where Newt was not running.
And Rick knows this.

Go find Mitt Romney and look there in the background, you

will see Rick Santorum’s shadow. Some of Santorum supporters

already admitted they will vote for Romney over Newt.

This stubbornness and Rick going to change the world and divide the seas talk got us in this mess. The social conservatives did not think this through (again) tho, this time, you all gave us a much worse candidate than McCain. I guess McCain got the last laugh on conservatives. Only a miracle can save us and it's not Rick Santorum because he is not pulling strength from all factions of conservatives. Hope he drops out before the media and ruling class destroys him because I don't trust him to team up with Newt or ask his delegates to stand with Newt. His team already is blaming Newt for staying in. That info came from that meeting in this story.

Newt’s greatest problem is that the world had heard of him. His barely positive image doomed him. He needed to do something else to redeem that image before running. He could have easily pulled this off, but he seemed to want to chase the limelight or cash more than redemption.
