Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wept and asked God to spare his life during a pre-Easter Mass after returning from his latest session of cancer treatment in Cuba.
Very little is known about the 57-year-old socialist leader's condition, including even what type of cancer he has. Chavez has undergone three operations in less than a year, and received two sessions of radiation treatment.
He says the latest surgery was successful, that he is recovering well and will be fit to win a new six-year term at an election in October. Yet big questions remain about his future, and on Thursday the strain appeared to show.
In a televised speech to the Catholic service in his home state of Barinas Thursday, Chavez cried and his voice broke as he eulogized Jesus, revolutionary fighter Ernesto "Che" Guevara and South American independence hero Simon Bolivar.

I guess that socialist health care isn’t working so well for him, is it?
Obamacare advocates take note! This could be your future!
The Cuban doctors aimed the radiation instrument incorrectly and burned his guts. No way. According to Michael Moore the Cubans have the finest medical care in the world. They set the bar and everyone else is trying to reach it. It must be George Bush’s fault that Hugo is having problems.
I don’t think Jesus will be the one that takes you...
I hope he dies a slow agonizing death - good riddance!
If Jesus, Che and Bolivar are Chavez’s unholy trinity,
then I guess that Wright, Marx and Alinsky are Kim Il Barack’s unholy threesome?
It just goes to prove the old adage...There are no atheists in fox holes.
wait... he’s a Christian now??
In his defense, Chavez is one of the few commies who has expressed faith in Christ. This is not a deathbed conversion.
And what good would come from him getting an extension on his life?
And he mentions Che along with Jesus?
He could go to Japan and stand by reactor 2 for a few minutes.
Those who are not assured of salvation should ALWAYS fear death.
Betcha Cowardly Castro does the same . . .as insincere as Sean Penn’s buttbuddy has done
Yes, he smells sulfur, but I hate to be the one to tell him.
It ain't "W" it's the real thing and he is coming to collect. . . . .
Not to worry, Hugo! Soon you will be greeted by a nice fellow with a pointed tail and pitch fork, and he will introduce you to many of your old friends.
On this Holy Friday...
We need to remember what Jesus said:
Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Romans 2:3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
Romans 9:20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”
Jesus died for Chavez as well, and he ONLY knows the heart of this man...
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
