'Jesus ... do not take me yet,' Hugo Chavez weeps

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wept and asked God to spare his life during a pre-Easter Mass after returning from his latest session of cancer treatment in Cuba.

Very little is known about the 57-year-old socialist leader's condition, including even what type of cancer he has. Chavez has undergone three operations in less than a year, and received two sessions of radiation treatment.

He says the latest surgery was successful, that he is recovering well and will be fit to win a new six-year term at an election in October. Yet big questions remain about his future, and on Thursday the strain appeared to show.

In a televised speech to the Catholic service in his home state of Barinas Thursday, Chavez cried and his voice broke as he eulogized Jesus, revolutionary fighter Ernesto "Che" Guevara and South American independence hero Simon Bolivar.

"Why wouldn’t Jesus want him?"

Take it up with Chavez's fruit or are Christians not suppose to institute a policy of righteous judgemtnent towards others who proclaim some sort of Christian identity.

This isn't a plea to Christ for salvation so Chavez can go humbly into the Kingdom of God, this is a plea by Chavez to MAINTAIN his own kingdom of repression, murder, and deceit. A plea to Jesus as well as Che etc...to keep living on this temperal plain, come on.

Chavez should study Matthew 7:21 – 23, repent, and stop being a repressive dictator.

"Some men's sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden".1 Timothy 5:24,25

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment". John 7:24.

Pay close attention to the bold part:

"I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore 'put away from yourselves that wicked person" 1 Corinthians 5:9-13

Hmm... Christians are to judge other Christians, God will judge the rest. Since Chavez is claiming to be a Christian that repressive reprobate is fair game to be judged on this earth by other Christians.

Only the contradictions of liberation theology would permit Chavez to "eulogize" both Jesus and Che.

To the atheist Castro, Chavez would be one of Lenin's "useful simpletons". Castro considers Chritianity to be "a group of very humane precepts".

Chavez's public displays of his Christian faith, contradicted by his actions, implies a political motive.

Job 34:4... Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

The word “judging” has been wrongly interpreted by many believers in Christ. If by judgement you mean to accuse someone of wrongdoing, then follow Jesus’ example and do not judge until you are certain that you are perfectly pure.

Matthew 7:1-6... says Judge NOT, that YOU be NOT judged.
The above speaks of judging in the flesh, with a carnal mind.

God’s Word is sufficient for guidance regarding judging and evaluating. John 8:15-24... teaches us how to judge. Jesus himself does not even judge according to the flesh. But, if we judge according to the scriptures, we better make sure that we don’t fail ourselves in the particular area in which we judge others.

The God-like Biblical judging is a wonderful way of opening the eyes of the one who is falling by the wayside. If nobody tells him he may get lost and he may not know how to come back. We judge others in the Love of Christ, not with harsh words and condemnation, but according to God’s Word.

Did GOD tell you where Hugo is going?

I am sorry but on this Good Friday, Jesus went to the cross for all sinners including Hugo Chavez....Christians have NO RIGHT to send anyone to hell..GOD kept that job for himself, not any flesh....

May GOD bless you in truth and spirit....

I believe the Lord has taken much worse sinners than Chavez. I don’t think he’s a butcher like Che: just a commie buffoon.

On this Holy Friday...

We need to remember what Jesus said:

Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Romans 2:3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

Romans 9:20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”

Jesus died for Chavez as well, and he ONLY knows the heart of this man...

Romans 10:13

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Bravo. Finally someone speaks the Truth on this thread.

If he doesn’t repent and accept Christ, he doesn’t have a thing to worry about Christ taking him soon, or ever.

In his defense, Chavez is one of the few commies who has expressed faith in Christ. This is not a deathbed conversion.

No. It's just a lie.

So glad you ignored what I wrote as well as the Scriture provided and played the pacifist ignorant lemming to a tee.

“If by judgement you mean to accuse someone of wrongdoing, then follow Jesus’ example and do not judge until you are certain that you are perfectly pure.”

Which is called righteous judgment, without it mankind would be spiritual eunuchs and the Gospel would have been relegated to historical insignificance due to people not making informed judgments throughout the 2000 years after Christ rose from the dead.

I have news for you, early Christians “judged” all the time. They were not meek from a theological as well as legal POV, hence, any gnostic disingenuously peddling an ideology in Christ's name would have been tolerated and Christianity watered down. Gee, just like what you are peddling when you have not even noticed what Chavez is really asking for. Its not repentance, especially from is Anti-Semetic and pro-radical Islamic beliefs that he funds generously.

What is judging anyway? Are we to be so passive that congregations should let preachers/ Priests/Bishops be murderers, adulterers, fornicators, liars, abusers, etc...? Remember, "Judge not...".

Got news for you, Jesus was not a pacifists, and left specific instructions that His followers are to judge, hmmm. Your discernment meter needs to be calibrated.

“... says Judge NOT, that YOU be NOT judged.”

And later Jesus commands us to judge and beware of false prophets. How do you become aware of false prophets in the first place, ROTFL? By the way, are you calling God convoluted? Why can't people discern correctly, excuse making is not Christianity, Truth is and what you peddle is irrationality/ infant consuming milk not actual Spiritual meat the Scriptures tell us to strive for. You know, becoming mature and using our God given rational to control mind and body in harmony with the Scriptures

Learn the difference between a hypocrite and righteousness. Good thing better men than us did because irrational pacifism would have made God's work a lot harder when dealing with mankind staying in a perpetual infantile state.

“I don’t think he’s a butcher like Che:”

No, Chavez just funds the murderers/butchers by the millions. If you think that is more noble than doing the actual wet-work than congratulations I guess.

Matthew 7 15-23

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in Heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord , have we not prophesied in the name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And the will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

YOU cannot judge any man’s heart, no matter how evil he might be..Only GOD knows the heart of a man, not any flesh...

Do you feel other Christians have the right to judge you???

Chavez or anyone else that cries out to the LORD Jesus Christ will be saved, if they are not because their heart is hardened or corrupt the LORD will judge not you....

Pacifist has nothing to do with it..Jesus hated hypocrites more than he hated sin...We have ALL fallen short...

Jesus came for all sinners which is you, me and Chavez...

Taking up the Cross for Christ is not about who you think is worthy of Hell and who isn’t....

Jesus said: But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44

Is he talking about Judging here:

Proverbs 19:11 A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 25:21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

Luke 6:27 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
