France: Islamists seeking to avenge Merah's death By THOMAS ADAMSON, Associated Press – 1 hour ago PARIS (AP) — France's interior minister says some Islamist groups in France want to avenge the death of a Muslim radical, who the government says was responsible for the killing of seven people in a shooting spree in the country's south... On Tuesday, preliminary charges were filed against 13 people who were detained in a raid last week, all members of Forsane Alizza, or Knights of Pride, a recently banned group. Nine of them were jailed. The four others were released, but must report to officials.

If martyrdom is what they seek, if death for Islam is an honour, why avenge? Shouldn’t they be thankful for bringing about such a glorious death? They had better think that one through.

Mohamed Merah was buried in an unmarked grave by his fellow terrorists. His father is threatening to sue France for killing his son. The Merah family and cohorts are a Salafist cell operating in France.
Despite President Sarkozy’s sounding the alarm, rounding up terrorists, and setting up a dragnet in France, the French people do not rate terrorism and national security as a priority in their choice fir president.
The meaning of the terrorist attacks in Toulouse is just sinking in, and beginning to show up in the polls. First round of election will be on April 23.

This is going to be an interesting one. Even though he is rising by about .5 point per day in the polling for the 1st round, he is consistently losing to Hollande by 8-10 in the 2nd.
The French are not like us. I don’t know what their reaction will be to his tough, straight talking, go for the jugular campaigning, the effect of Tge terrorist attacks, etc.
Even more, if Sarko wins the 1st round, what is the psychological impact of that? Is there a “big MO” factor in France?
