Notable current members include:
Bill Gates, co-founder and chairman of Microsoft
Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway
Sam Palmisano, former CEO of IBM
Carl Sanders, former Governor of Georgia
Sam Nunn, former United States Senator from Georgia
Hugh L. McColl Jr., Former CEO of Bank of America
Hugh McColl Supported Obama for President.
And, why should I care who is a member?
I wish the GOP candidates were smart enough to turn this BS story around on Obummer and point out that Commie Libs hang out there. Country Club Golfers are always painted as Right Wing fat cats but in reality, a list of Pinkos like Obummer are the only ones with enough time and money to waste playing golf in a club. Thomas Freidman, the Rat apologist, comes to mind.
They should allow estrogen bots in one day a year.
So they can Christmas shop at the Pro Shop.
Obama is working to divide the nation to win reelection.
One of his tactics is the floating of a "Conservative War on Women" slogan.
Currently Augusta is hosting the Masters Golf Championship.
Part of democrat's attempt has been pointing out that no women are allowed membership at Augusta.
Google the term - Augusta Women Membership.
It will show many news stories relating to the Lefts attempt.
The list shows that the majors of the Obama support group are members at Augusta.
This shows their concern is fake.
Which helps negate their "Conservative war on women" attempts and thus promote conservatism.
No black members Black caddies only
No female members.
IIRC, At least two other IBM CEO’s, Gerstner and Akers, were/are members as well.

—no women are allowed membership at Augusta.—
You mean Warren Buffet’s secretary can’t join?
The poor woman is damn near broke after paying all her taxes!
Women play at Augusta all the time. They just cannot be members.
What’s wrong with a private male club? You don’t see anyone bitching about female only groups deliberately on purpose keeping men out. There’s nothing wrong with it.
And since women do play at Augusta, they are still way ahead than the female only clubs that don’t even let men on the premises, period. No pun intended.
Another link from that article: Augusta's members a well-known and powerful lot
Thank you for the clarification.
Traditional clubs do not have women memberships. Originally this was set up to protect women, as the clubs were "family clubs." When the husband dies. His wife is required to sell his membership. This puts a substantial amount of money in her pocket, without the embarrassment of "needing" to sell the membership for the cash. Also, as widow of the member, she can continue to use the club and retain all her friends. It is funny how a rule designed to protect a mans family has been turned on its ear.
they want their golf course to have a national event perhaps they should get out of the 19 century into the morning light...
a perfect illustration of liberalism is when the leftists can with a straight face discriminate and get away with it....
oh brother....what a convoluted explanation.....its always for their own “good” isn’t it....
It is 'Scouts,' no longer Boy Scouts and most of the leaders are women.
Every year boys hockey teams are sued to allow girls.....etc etc.
Add to that(school rules); no tag, no snowball fights, no wrestling, no sparring, no fighting, no chasing...etc etc. Males must be vivisected.
It comes from the tradition, when a man's major priority was protection of his family, of course, things have now changed. In any case, a private club should be able to have its own rules. No matter what people, not sponsored or invited to join, may think.
Is Augusta listed as a non-profit organization?
Have no idea. The members own the club, so what is the point of turning a profit?
Well/anytime you have restricted club membership and membership criteria, that by definition is discrimination. Female only clubs are by definition, discriminatory.
Discrimination is not always a bad thing. Only in modern lexicon does it gain a generally negative connotation. Anytime you make a choice to do something or not, you have exercised a form of discrimination.
There is nothing wrong with male only or female-only private organizations. Being private clubs it doesn’t matter why. Lesbians who generally do not like men, have private clubs and would never have men in those clubs. It’s a stupid reason but they can do it for stupid reasons.
Former Democratic Senator who is a board member of Coca Cola, Sam Nunn and Warren Buffett. Those damn 1%'s.
The reason I ask is that on a family discussion board about this, a lawyer-relative argued that since they are a non-profit organization, they should not be allowed to keep women out.
Are Fraternities and Sororities allowed in Canada?
I would guess that any Private owned club that does not seek to turn a profit would be classified as a non-profit for tax reasons. That does not mean they are getting free bee's from the government. The government should not have more right to your money than you do. The fact that it does is part of the problem.
Remember this is a invitation for membership only club. How do you force people to invite someone they do not want? And is that the kind of country that we want to live in? One that the government tells you where to go, what to do, and that you have to buy government approved health-care insurance.
Yes...that is very close to my reply to him...thank you. He threw me for a (temporary) loop with the comment about “non-profit.” I did get the best of him, though...
I'll have to look into frats and get back.
