Gingrich keeps campaigning - and keeps drawing an audience

MILLSBORO, Del. - At 7 p.m. on Thursday, in the back shed of a firehouse, a presidential candidate who continually concedes he's unlikely to capture the Republican nomination held a rally - and 350 people showed up.

Earlier, Newt Gingrich spoke to more than 150 people in nearby Magnolia. And a day earlier, he greeted a sold-out auditorium that seats more than 400 at the UniversityofNorthCarolina-Wilmington.

The Republicans who come to Gingrich's campaign events, signs in hand and ready to offer standing ovations, are under no illusions that the former House speaker is going to overtake Mitt Romney to become to Republican nominee. In fact, many say they're ready to support Romney if he gets the nomination as expected.

For now, they just like hearing what Gingrich has to say.

"I love the guy," said Linda Creasy of Lewes, Del. "I'd love to see him in there. I think he's the smartest; I think he has the most to offer. He just doesn't have the most money."

....After the speech, Sussex County Republican Party spokesman Duke Brooks said he'll vote for Gingrich in the Apr. 24 Delaware primary. "There's no question about it,"...

Asked whether he holds out hope that his candidate will somehow become that nominee,.."Mathematically, it seems not." But..he finds "interesting" Gingrich's argument that however unlikely, a win in Delaware could reverberate in larger states such as North Carolina and Texas.

"Even if we still can't get the nomination, we roll into.. Tampa with a brokered convention in the offing," Brooks said. "And if we do that, in the long run I think that can only be good for the party because it's going to flesh out a lot of ideas, and a lot of people are going to pay attention to it."

That's Gingrich's message as well...

RNC neutrality challenged on Romney

Why don’t Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum just quit?

Romney win, now almost certain, won't decide future of GOP

Thanks, Newt! How much has Romney paid you to stay in?

Newt has been intentionally sidelined by ALL concerned, media, GOP and some et cetera's because he really IS the better candidate.

He out thinks most people and would tie ozero up in knots within 10 minutes of any "debate".

He has real and simple, one syllable word plans that can be enacted immediately after taking office that would correct almost all of the wrongdoing and evil of the ozero administration.

He knows Washington, the players, who and what's in what closet and knows where the keys are.

Totally unafraid to face himself and any others.

And as is evidenced continually .. he draws a crowd wherever he speaks and folks walk away with, "Why haven't I heard this guy before?"

...."One attendee walking past in Millsboro overheard the question and channeled the baseball cinema classic "Field of Dreams": "If Newt debates, they will come," he shouted as he hurried past. He then turned around to clarify, "If Newt speaks, they will come."

Yes, best economic plan for which some need immediate, robust recovery, and best legislative agenda starting Jan 3, 2013, clue in Barabbas Romney!

The "rack" being designed for Newt's appearance Sunday on Fox with Chris Wallace will be interesting to watch. How hard will Chris campaign for Mitt? What will the "Round Table" decide is Newt's biggest "political suicide sin?"

That’s how the MSM and the GOP-E do it - they ignore you - freeze you out.

The problem with Paul is he’s not running in the right primary. He should have run on the Libertarian ticket.

Newt’s saving grace is how he zeros in on the right issues and the media can’t ignore him.

They (Drudge) try to sideline him with misleading headlines but he keeps moving toward Tampa.

Obama possibly the worst President in US history is up for re-election and who does the GOP think is the remedy?
God help America.

Simple plans, like mirrors in space!

If you don't understand Newt's position on space and how it effects American exceptionalism and drives our science and technology -- best go find out instead of using soundbites and snippets taken out of context.

I worked with a guy many years ago that had patented a fire escape system using lasers and small mirrors that would be mounted at corners, low to the floor that would guide people out of a burning house.

I thought it was a simple and brilliant idea.

It is Mr. Santorum, who, wittingly or not, is being used by Romney as a tool against conservatism. Look at how the Romney mouthpieces FoxNews, Glenn Beck, the MSM, constantly attack Newt Gingrich and play up Santorum.

He got that from a David Brooks article that indicates Newt had thrown that idea out as an example of what physics could be used to accomplish a task, not necesarilly a “proposal”

You obviously mistake Newt for Santorum - he’s the one who can’t figure it all out. If Newt decides to speak, folks know it will be relevant and intelligent, so they come. If Rick decides to speak, some folks will go to find out which Rick is showing up today, and the MSM will have a field day with any number of oopsies from not thinking before he speaks.

Newt is visionary!

Don’t laugh at his space ideas. Russians and Chinese rush to put weapons in space and the moon and we sit still (by design). The next war will be won or lost by those nuclear and electromagnetic-pulse guided weapons, guess what, from space.

So Newt knows what he is talking about.

Thank you knarf.

Newt wants Americans to “charge” forward, while too many willingly believe those who are telling them we need to stand still and study it or say it’s too hard.

Others would slam progress in reverse “Al Gore” style.

Most are just too ignorant to understand the difference.

Other countries DO NOT have this anchor holding them down, but then they don’t have John P. Holdern [The Population Bomb] as the Science and Technology Czar guiding their decisions.
