U.S. intelligence gains in Iran seen as boost to confidence(it's not making warhead???)
Washington Post ^ | April 7, 2012 | Joby Warrick and Greg Miller

The Obama administration has cited new intelligence reports in arguing against a preemptive military strike by Israel against Iranian nuclear facilities.

The expanded espionage effort has confirmed the consensus view expressed by the U.S. intelligence community in a controversial estimate released publicly in 2007. That estimate concluded that while Iran remains resolutely committed to assembling key building blocks for a nuclear weapons program, particularly enriched uranium, the nation’s leaders have opted for now against taking the crucial final step: designing a nuclear warhead.

“It isn’t the absence of evidence, it’s the evidence of an absence,” said one former intelligence official briefed on the findings. “Certain things are not being done.”

The 2007 NIE was fraudulent the day it came out. The Iranians already have a nuclear warhead design provided by AQ Khan, IIRC.

This WaPo story is yet another preemptive attempt to de-legitimize the inevitable Israeli attack so that Israel, not Obama, gets blamed when the Iranian asymetric blowback kills US troops and civilians.

Obviously, the absence of evidence that Iran is designing a warhead is NOT evidence of absence of the same. It's the unknown unknowns that Isreal will not rely on the US to detect or trust the US under Obama to act on.

Perfect cartoon for this story!

BTW, I posted just the very last three paragraphs of the story. The entire article was a lead-up to the claim that the 2007 NIE has been validated by the "new intelligence" on which we obviously wasted $ billions. Talk about Alice in Wonderland! The treason in the WH and the media continues...

Pure old fashioned taqiyya from the White House.

The logic makes me think of OJ. All the probabilities of the mutual co incidences pointed directly to his guilt. .... each piece by its self was so highly improbable....

I trust the “intelligence community” that told us in 1989 that it was all hunky dory in the Soviet block of Eastern Europe! When are they ever wrong?!

Anybody that thinks that Iran is not making nuclear warheads are delusional. Ahmadinejad and his cohorts believe they can bring on the 12th Imam through a worldwide conflagration and this can only happen with nuclear weapons.

I would bet Israel’s intelligence knows as much if not more than our intelligence. So, what we think is irrelevant. If Israel sees a nuke in Iran’s future, you can bet it’ll be coming from Israel.

Iran tested advanced nuclear warhead design – secret report

Exclusive: Watchdog fears Tehran has key component to put bombs in missiles

Julian Borger, diplomatic editor

guardian.co.uk, Thursday 5 November 2009 15.45 EST

The UN’s nuclear watchdog has asked Iran to explain evidence suggesting that Iranian scientists have experimented with an advanced nuclear warhead design, the Guardian has learned.

The very existence of the technology, known as a “two-point implosion” device, is officially secret in both the US and Britain, but according to previously unpublished documentation in a dossier compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of the design. The development was today described by nuclear experts as “breathtaking” and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis.

The sophisticated technology, once mastered, allows for the production of smaller and simpler warheads than older models. It reduces the diameter of a warhead and makes it easier to put a nuclear warhead on a missile.

Documentation referring to experiments testing a two-point detonation design are part of the evidence of nuclear weaponisation gathered by the IAEA and presented to Iran for its response.

These are the days of calm and peace. America smiles and thinks the world will never catch up with them.

War is coming. We didn’t recognize it in the 70s. We ignored it in the 80’s 90s. It will slap us into reality soon.

Our greatest freedom will be our ultimate enemy. Give us your tired, yearning for freedom. These words have giving hope to the masses but freedom is not what everyone seeks.

American intelligence gave us the “christian” obama, the greatest deceiver and destroyer in American history.

This indecision, self doubt and identity crisis will be the source of Americas greatest spanking. There is a price to be paid for such ignorance.

We don’t need to worry about Iran, we have obama.

Aside from that, if their power generation technology was peaceful , why is is so clandestine? Hardened bunkers?

Disinformation from WAPO, yanking a page right out of Goebbels’ book.

The Omulla Junta has seized control of the press and courts and congress and rules by dictate.

Anybody done their taxes yet? Holy smokes I am going to have to sell 25% of my assets to pay my income tax. I get no deductions anymore. And I am no 1 per center. Trickle down poverty.

Since the truth has never crossed the lips of anyone in the Obama admin., I expect Iran will test a weapon within a year.

Let's see now...the IAEA says Iran *is* building a nuke and Osama Obama says they're not.Who to believe?

I've gotta go with the UN on this one.
