You don't make edits that clean by accident. It was carefully planned...to get the desired result...fan the flames

I’m waiting for Spike Lee to Tweet the home address of the imaginary producer who was pretend fired by NBC.

Let’s see...

Isn’t NBC owned by GE?

Isn’t GE a major contributor of Obama?

Doesn’t GE have a major stake in getting it reelected?

I am thinking there is no fired producer. I am also thinking they are banking on BO’s way of thinking- that the public has a very short memory.

Wrong. If there was any journalistic integrity at that network, it is long gone now with this unethical BLACK mark.

Sue away.

Overturn every rock and bring light to all the cockroaches there. If they can afford to pay a balding POS like Matt Lauer $30 million, they can afford to put another zero to that sum and give it to a man who has undeservedly been used as an instrument to ensure this network’s gravy train.

My guess is that it was not only planned, the people involved got a kick out of their own cleverness. Add to that the satisfaction of accomplishing a task set for them by whoever is ultimately responsible for coordinating the outrage, and the "fired producer" - a journalistic equivalent of the so-called "lone gunman"* - probably wouldn't change a thing. Good foot soldiers of the proletariat know that rewards eventually follow such sacrifices.

I am not so sure it was deliberate distortion.

Any journalist or historian must pick and choose which facts they believe relevant to the story.

I suspect to this editor’s perception the unedited tape showed clearly Zimmerman’s racism. So all he/she did was edit out those distracting bits of dialog in between the important parts. Didn’t change the meaning at all.

I, of course, disagree with that perception, as I suspect would all fair-minded people. But for someone focused enough on their cause, I can see the possibility of it not being concious deception.

Ah, yes, wasn’t it a miracle that the ‘mistake’ just happened to turn out in perfect useful form instead of some kind of garbled mess that a ‘mistake’ usually creates.

Simply amazing.
