Last week, President Barack Obama laid down a marker to the Supreme Court: Invalidate the health care law, and the court itself will become an issue in the election.
Its impossible to make any sense of this. Overturning a statute is unprecedented? Obama supposedly taught constitutional law, yet there he was, speaking as if hed never heard of judicial review practiced by American courts for more than two centuries while pretending that a bill that barely escaped a Senate filibuster and passed the House by a mere seven votes had drawn a strong majority.
The next day, he acknowledged the power of the court to invalidate a statute, but in an odd way the whole episode seemed to fit with his tooth-fairy energy policy, with all its non-existent green jobs and now-bankrupt solar companies. The man seems to waft in and out of reality at will.
In the last couple of weeks the tone from the left has become desperate. From the beginning, supporters of Obamacare assumed they had the law on their side. Dont worry, the personal mandate is well within the power of Congress proper regulation of interstate commerce and all that.
But the Supreme Court didnt get the memo and the stern treatment of the governments case came as a shock.
Obamacare seems a dead end, entitlement liberalisms bridge too far a flawed attempt to impose central planning on an enormously complicated economic sector. If its not invalidated by the court or repealed by Congress, the law will collapse of its own weight, brought down by its exorbitant cost and persistent unpopularity. Heres hoping the court lets Congress have a do-over.

A “do-over”? Hell no. Dig a hole, toss in the corpse, then burn it to ash so that it never rises again.
I’m sick of the whole bunch of them.
Nothing ever gets solved because if something actually got solved, they wouldn’t have an issue to campaign on.
I wonder if President Downgrade’s antics will result in a 7-2 vote to overturn.
lot of ignorants out there, couple that to those on the public dole one way or another
There aren't enough reasonable, somewhat intelligent, Independent voters to get him out.
...and lye. Do NOT forget the lye.
I think Obama is smart in the manipulative calculating scondrel shyster scheming $h!T disturbing kind of way. Obama, if you believe what history we know about him, has had a lot of handlers and mentors in the prog commie theology.
That is why when he goes off prompter he is a babbling idiot.
Although, he’s a true believer in the unAmerican way. He really believes that almost everything bad is American made...particularly the USC.
However, that is not enough...because America has only been around for around 250 years.
Who is to blame before America existed?
Well, naturally “ Brittish Imperialism. Before that probably the white man and the jew.
What serperates Obama from probably any President previous is his williness and delight to lie and lie and lie some more. He is the biggest lier in the know Universe!
He is unashamed and even proud of his ability to stand before the American people and feed them a line of crap. He doesn’t care if he know you know he is a lier.
Because he is on a mission to detroy America as we have known it.
Too bad the voters you describe are .01% of the voting population.
I’m absolutely SICK about this election. Romney sucks donkey balls, and the RNC are going to cram him down our throats. Overall, the voters are a bunch of simpering morons (as evidenced by our current President).
That is why when he goes off prompter he is a babbling stammering idiot.
There is no evidence that Obama is a avid reader. He mostly likely had a ghost writer write his books. Obama has probably never had an original thought.
He is mostly parroting the prog commie radical theology.
He obviously has to disguise it for public consumption.
And, the prog commie media is willing to go along.
One can only hope. Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader-Ginsburg will stick with Obama all the way to the abyss.
Lots of ignorance in the GOP also. Look where we are in our nominating process. It’s winnowed down to “Kook-Daddy” and the Three Stooges.
I don’t want a “do over”, I don’t want no part of the government telling me that I have to buy anything!
Romney sucks donkey balls, and the RNC are going to cram him down our throats.

Don’t put all the blame on the RNC. Conservatives share the biggest part of the blame. We’ve done this to ourselves. The “good” Conservatives like Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan didn’t have the balls to run. So, look what we’re stuck with. And we get “loser” Conservatives dividing up the vote, because they all have egos too friggin’ big to drop out, and the lone Moderate cruises to the nomination. Happens every time. So, don’t just blame the RNC. Let’s take our share of the blame.
And, the prog commie media is willing to go along.
It is the media’s willingness to completely back up Obama that is will be the greatest obstacle in defeating Obama. Not Obama.
And, massive voter fraud.
Dig a hole, toss in the corpse, then burn it to ash so that it never rises again.
...and lye. Do NOT forget the lye.
Don’t forget the stake, driven right through
the heart.
This whole call for a “do over” is just another
chance for leftists to complete the job they
started. NO, HELL NO!
Not to mention a knuclehad on the pub side with no proven evidence of reform...that is on the side of the Constitutional Republic and not the commie Dim-mock-crazy version of it.
Maybe it’s time for true conservatives to abandon the Republican Party, then. I have to ask: how, exactly, are true conservatives to blame for people like Romney? This would only be the case if we vote for them.
The only “do over” needed, is to run the Pelozi ACA bill through the current House and “deem” it a steaming pile.
Then flush it.
impossible to get all 37 to agree on anything
“This whole call for a do over is just another
chance for leftists to complete the job they
started.”
I disagree. The system needs reforming—ESPECIALLY the government-funded portions: Medicare, Medicaid and tax subsidies for worker health plans. The Ryan plan effectively is a “do-over” that repeals Obamacare and then reforms the system correctly in a way that literally will save the nation trillions of dollars over the decades to come. Preemptively rejecting this kind of reform is a bad idea.
Yes.
Me neither dag nab it, I want it freeeeee.
The RNC has crammed Dole, McCain, Ford and now Romney. I was too young to know about Nixon, but He was a big spending Republican. Bush #1 with His brand of conservative thinking after Ron never settled right with me either now that I think about it. But almost a clean sweep there of 1 termers or losers. So now we have the morman...
I wish Cain had stuck it out
I can't really blame the "good" Conservatives for staying out. The fact is, each time a Democrat president is up for re-election, the open primaries kill Republican chances of nominating a conservative candidate. That's the way the system works, the rug gets pulled out from beneath us every time. Until there is a grassroots campaign in a dozen or so states to rectify the problem, this is what we're going to be stuck with.
BTW, this primary-raiding works both ways. When a Republican incumbent is the presumptive nominee, the open primaries are damaging to the Democrats - just not as badly (our side apparently has more scruples).
As for Obama making the SCOTUS a campaign issue, I hope he does. Health care reform still polls around 66% against, so if he wants to take on the branch of government that may have just made seven out of ten voters very happy - hey, I'm all for it. All he'll stir up is the usual group of parasites.
So, you think it’s fine for the government to compel you to buy things?
..................One can only hope. Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader-Ginsburg will stick with Obama all the way to the abyss.....................
Hey, why not include a certain “Wise latina” and turn it into a tri-fecta??
do-over my ass. It should denounce this insane mandate for what it is: an attempt to subjugation and control this country’s citizenry illegally. NOWHERE does the Constitution ‘mandate’ a citizen ‘purchase’ anything.
The people of California keep passing referendums and the courts keep knocking them down.
Well, I omitted the Latina because the Post I replied to suggested it might be a 7-2 Ruling.
how, exactly, are true conservatives to blame for people like Romney? This would only be the case if we vote for them.

It’s the Conservative movement as a whole. We cannot settle on one candidate. People hate Bachmann. People hate Perry. People hate Santorum. People hate Newt. And, these are “Conservatives” I’m talking about. So, we vote against our Conservative Brother or Sister that we love to hate and divide our vote. Moderate keeps winning by a plurality and walks into the nomination. Does that answer your question?
Obama is a liar without peers. He can spin top to bottom of his mouth as well as side to side. Recognize him for the capabilities he has and his being fortunate that enablers such as Soros and toe-suckers such as his press secretary have brought his talent out front.
Man, time after time the GOP has baboso’s like Myth, Juan mclame, Bob Dull???
Bush 1 2 3 whatever???
That or they just find or create a new “problem” for government to “solve” which is generally very easy given the habit of their old “solutions” to produce even bigger problems.
No “do over.” No more creeping fascism. No more government take-overs.
I see your point. So, what is a true conservative to do in this election? Certainly not vote for Mittens.
Well, for 2012, it’s too late to do anything except ask ourselves: “Do I want to hold my nose and vote for RINO-Rom or do I want to either stay home or vote Third Party to help Obozo get another four years to finish destroying this nation?”
Nor me. “Congress” should not have anther shot at robing us of our right to choose what goods & services we provide for ourselves.
Life is about choices, our individual choices not choices forced upon us by a group of arrogant men 1000 miles away. Take away our choices in life even if it is just a foolish attempt to remove the consequences of bad choices is to take away the essence of our life.
Men must be free to rise and fall by the merit of their own choices! That is what freedom is when you get down to it.
Obama does not simply wish to destroy what little is left of our Republic, he wants to completely turn it into a socialist empire of socialist slaves.
If you think it wise to in anyway by direct or indirect actions to aid him to stay in power longer that is your choice. But consider the army your letting him build, an army we will one day have to face and defeat for our freedom.
You apparently took my comment to say I might vote for Obama. There is no way in hell I would ever do that. To get Barack Obama out of the White House, I will vote for the GOP nominee even if it ends up being Forrest Gump. I was telling another Freeper what his choices were if he didn’t want to vote for Romney. Because, we may as well get used to it; RINO-Rom will be the nominee.
Problem is finding enough of those kind of voters.
Well, I’m certainly not going to hold my nose and vote for Mitt, so I guess I’ll stay home.
</sarcasm>
</sarcasm> tag when you need it.
Whatever.
I would, however, encourage you to consider going to vote and vote in the down-ballot races. If we can take back the Senate and hold the House, we can stop Obozo’s Socialist Agenda.
Sorry, you just never know....I grew up with people like that, let’s just say the government is their friend.
