Reactions to the Death of Mike Wallace, ’60 Minutes’ Pioneer

Mike Wallace, a pioneer of American broadcasting who confronted leaders and liars for the newsmagazine “60 Minutes” for four decades, has died, CBS News said. He was 94.

His death was announced on CBS by the anchor of its Sunday morning program, Charles Osgood. The network did not immediately specify when or where he died. Mr. Wallace had been ill for several years.

It's possible Wallace had the longest run in the history of television, and he was Hispanic. Before he became a news reader and performer, he actually did some investigative journalism, taking point for the Left internal party revolt against Lyndon Johnson and then against Richard Nixon.

He lost his edge when the nation gradually returned to a two party system, between 1980 and 1994.

He was a left-wing Democrat, and defined "normalcy" with that worldview.

He did get a few seconds from me. Just long enough to remind whoever is listening above that here was a man who told us he would sacrifice our family members and neighbors for his own gain.

He almost certainly did just that in a broader sense a la Fonda with his efforts during the conflict.

This is a particularly tough morning to consider forgiving such people.

That was from a Ethics in media roundtable. Full of military types,media and religious people. I remember it because there was a Vietnam war vet who lost both hands. They asked the military people if they would torture enemy soliders for info on the ambush. All the officers said no but the Vietnam Vet didnt even blink when he said “yeah”.

The vet had little love for the media. He also blasted Wallace and the other talking heads.

I was in my 20's when I started distrusting the media.

Wallace's remark may be one of the things that opened my eyes to the lies by the American press.

God loves Mike Wallace as much as He loves YOU. Pray that he recovered from his delusional state before meeting his Maker.
Besides, you never know until you get where you’re going, who stands where with God. It may be that the Lord is more disappointed in you than in Mike Wallace.

Wasn’t he the “interviewer” of David Frost when DF was going to interview Nixon after the latter had endured a few years of the silent treatment?

I recall Wallace so biased, rude to Frost, even at one point making fun of an advertiser’s revolutionary new product “Weed Eater”

“WEED EATER” a sarcastic Wallace repeated? Frost’s reply”: “It’s actually a very good product”

Bet Wallace’s low paid minority landscaper crews ever used weed eater to keep his lawn neat and trim?
