Posted on 04/08/2012 9:23:24 AM PDT by Greystoke
Trayvon was killed Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, who told police that a confrontation with the unarmed 17-year-old led him to shoot in self-defense.
Mr. Cosby, a Navy veteran, said the gun empowered Mr. Zimmerman, whose actions have stirred a firestorm of debate, protests and remarks from President Obama.
Weve got to get the gun out of the hands of people who are supposed to be on neighborhood watch, said Mr. Cosby, whose remarks were the first he has made publicly about the case.

Yeah, that’ll scare those innocent little thugs snooping around the neighborhood
Here’s where he weighed in yesterday:
Have a coke and a smile, Bill and think about the second amendment.
Eric Holder’s people hate guns in the hands of non-Eric Holder’s people because they consider violent crime to be a legitimate career path, and armed victims to be an OSHA violation.
So why do cops cary them.....
Quite the opposite. If you're a law abiding citizen, you carry a gun so nobody will get killed, especially yourself.
Zimmerman was not kicked in the head until he was a vegetable or dead.
Poor Mr. Cosby doesn't understand why.
The gun has hired an attorney and plans to plead the 5th.
I suppose when his son Ennis pulled over on Mullholland to change his girlfriend’s flat tire, an Evil Gun flew into the hands of a Russian mobster and forced the peaceful mobster to shoot Ennis dead.
Hey Bill, what’s Tawana Brawley done with her education you paid for?...
Yes, if Zim didn’t have a gun, Traybone would be alive today and Zim would be in his grave or in a coma with major brain trauma. Good joke, huh Bill?
Typical leftist idiot response.
Of course....it wasn’t anything that the “sweet, innocent little kid” Trayvon Martin did to get shot (ie punching Zimmerman, breaking his nose, knocking him to the ground and then hitting his head against the concrete....all after having first told Zimmerman that he was going to die that night).
It was the damned gun’s fault!
Ye gads, what dementia is this thing called “progressive thinking”?
Had Zimmerman not had that gun he would probably be dead and Trayvon would still be prowling neighborhoods in his hoodie.
If “the gun” did it, why the heck are the Hollyweird “celebrities” and the Black Pampers wanting to lynch Zimmerman?
Don’t you mean “Dr. Cosby”?
Pretty soon, it will be “The Reverend Dr. William Malcolm Cosby, Jr.”
I’m fairly sure the Mr. Cosby has security that are armed with only Jell-O pudd’in pops, right?
I'm giving him a pass here because I think he is speaking from the standpoint of a father who has lost his (only?) son --in a different way, true, but nevertheless a horrible loss. I seem to remember it was in a freeway accident where the person(s) left the scene--maybe a carjacking? Anyone?
What would be the use of a neighborhood watch in a high crime neighborhood without some protection?
When Yahaziel Israel and his good buddy hammered the head of a 50 year old white guy the other day, who stopped at a store after work and was attacked
(His injuries are severe and he is still in critical condition and now has pneumonia. 75% of his skull was damaged in the attack. The victim also has a broken arm, a broken hand, and a broken jaw.)
a few miles from where Trayvon Martin was shot, was it the hammers fault or the fact that Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the New Black Panther Party were all holding events in the area?
Sure disarm our LEOs so criminals are safe. Works great everywhere it’s been tried! /communist think
It is a shame that the thousands of blacks dying at each others hands seem to go unnoticed by Sharpton and Jackson, presumably because there is no money in those killings.
I know this is a side issue, but:
My husband and I were members of our neighborhood watch in the city, before we moved out here. I really don’t know the law in that Florida city, but in SA, members of the neighborhood watches are NOT allowed to carry a gun on their rounds.
Is Cosby aware that thugs have been “carrying” concealed since the time in history that there were weapons that could be concealed?
Here in Wisconsin, we just got the concealed carry law through last November.
The libs are in a snit about it.
Yet as long as any of them have lived, criminals always had guns on them...and it didn’t bother the libs one bit.
Now we all can carry, and they’re going to try to overturn the law as soon as they can figure out how, usually through the liberal hack courts in Madison.
Hey Cos’, you’ll take mine from my cold dead hands.
Stick to comedy.
End of Rant
Do they also issue you blue helmets, so that you are easier to spot as a target?
Take the gun out of Zimmeraman’s hand, and his life would have ended as his head was bashed into the concrete. Then there would have been no huge uproar over a Latino killed by a black.
As it was, a Latino defended himself and a black died. Cosby seemed to think it is ok to be attacked brutally along as he cannot defend himself.
What a crock. Sorry Bill, that dog don’t hunt.
Gee, thanks for the info, but that has nothing to do with the Sanford incident.
The guy called police and was heading back to his car, not to confront him.
Trayvon (legally since he was probably scare he was being followed) went after Zimmerman.
At the show I saw Bill at, he had SIX security guards. Will he share them?
There is no “right” to assault.
Trayvon unnecessarily escalated the encounter into a physical one - being asked to answer questions does not give you the right to assault the questioner and threaten him with death (”you’re gonna die tonight”).
Trayvon is the author of his own misfortune.
I think Bill is onto something here. There are billions of guns out there, but not all are involved in killing people.
There must be a “bad gun” gene that is causing all the problems. We need a government funded study to try and discover this “bad gun” gene and start testing all guns manufactured to eliminate all those bad guns before they are sold to an unsuspecting public.
Trayvon illegally assaulted Zimmerman. Asking Zimmerman a question was not illegal, sucker punching him to the ground, breaking his nose was. That was assault.
Climbing on top of the prostate Zimmerman and beating his head into the cement went further and put Zimmerman’s life in jeopardy, which then justified the shooting.
Trayvon, once he lost Zimmerman and Zimmerman was going back to hs vehicle, should have left well enough alone.
But he coludn’t, or wouldn’t...so he first punched him, then began beating him...and lost his life. Fatal mistake.
The kid didn’t see the gun until after he “downed” Zimmerman. I suppose Bill would rather have the kid beat the sh** out of him....Who is he kidding???
Yep. Look up history--many totalitarians have used criminal auxiliaries to soften up and intimidate the population.
Bill Cosby is getting old, so it’s a question of how sharp his mind is today. Bill ain’t what he used to be, unfortunately. Also, the MSM misinterprets things all the time, so it’s much better to see things through a non-edited camera/other video equipment, as much as is possible, and then come to our own conclusions.
Bill squandered his mojo with Tawana Brawley and Fat Albert.
Cosby had that covered, too. He and the Mrs. blamed it on American racism, claiming the thug came over here pure as the driven snow, and then was converted by our racists.
In his neighborhood, Cosby likely enjoys the services of a police department with a 2- or 3-second response time, and has come to think of it as the norm in the actual world. But ask him how much good it did to have armed cops, backup and all, on scene in Oakland in 2009, when one man took out four of them.
“They bring a knife, we bring a gun.” Barack Obama, Cosby’s bro.
Paraphrased, George Washington Carver said about 100+ years ago that as long as there was power to be had and money to be made from keeping the minorities believing they are victims, there would be people like the Revs. Al and Jesse.
“There must be a bad gun gene that is causing all the problems. We need a government funded study to try and discover this bad gun gene and start testing all guns manufactured to eliminate all those bad guns before they are sold to an unsuspecting public.”
No problem, the government already sent those bad guns to Mexico.................we are now safe..............
No, Bill. Not the gun. The cell phones.
You see, both Martin and Zimmerman were on cell phones. And both of them said, on their cell phones, that they'd lost each other.
That's the key point here.
Because Martin ran away - and Zimmerman walked back to his car.
So Martin knew where Zimmerman was, but Zimmerman did not know where Martin was.
Therefore, Martin attacked Zimmerman.
The cell phones, Bill - the cell phones.
The Baseball Bat.
The Tire Iron.
Didn’t Cosby’s name come up some years ago as one of the few people who had a concealed carry permit from New York City? If so, then I guess Cosby was just out to murder somebody. I wonder who it was?
I believe trayvon had the legal right to self defense, and zimmerman did likewise.
Trayvon assumed he was being followed by zimmerman so he could of reacted in self defense.
Zimmerman had trayvon attacking him without understanding why, hence he also had self-defense..
Sorry, you can not “defend” yourself because you “think” someone is following you.
The person who initiates violence in such a situation is the perpetrator. The person being attacked is the one with the right to defend.
Trayvon attacked Zimmerman. You cannot legally do that because you think he is following you...only if he physically tries to attack or detain you. Zimmerman did neither.
No, but that nonsense was one of the reasons we were delighted to move to the boonies ASASP-I can carry my pistol if I want to when I hike in the woods, walk down the road after dark, etc, and no one tries to tell me not to- even though there are only 6 families on this road, it is a pretty remote area.
You’re welcome, and whether it does or not, if the rules are the same there as they are in SA, you can bet one of the attorneys representing either Zimmerman or Martin’s parents are going to bring it up, which is why I mentioned it.
So Martin goes from "probably scare [sic]" to "went after Zimmerman"?
How does that work "legally"? Just because you're being followed, you can "go after someone"?
Martin could have physically run circles around Zimmerman, if he was so "scared", why didn't he run home?
The rules which Zimmerman undertook Neighborhood Watch patrols under have no bearing on this incident.
He was NOT on patrol that night, he was going to run an errand, saw someone he did not recognize, and responded.
There are no rules that say a NW patrolman may not be armed when not on patrol.
