Newark Residents Miffed Over Bill from Whitney Houston's Funeral
By Connor Simpson | The Atlantic Wire – 20 hrs ago

Newark residents are being left to pick up the bill for Whitney Houston's funeral, and, surprisingly, they aren't happy about it. The demands of the high-profile funeral attendees have left the city of Newark with a $187,000 bill for police overtime. Police acted as barriers between fans and the proceedings on the day of the funeral of the Newark native who drowned in February. Nearly 200 officers were posted to the New Batist Church on the day of the funeral.

Reminds me of "Occupy Boston" vs the Tea Party.Any time the Tea Party has a rally here they're required to get a permit and post a bond. After their rallies the area is immaculate and no rapes or heroin ODs have occurred.Occupy,OTOH,got *no* permit, posted *no* bond and cost the taxpayers many hundreds of thousands in police/EMS overtime and cleanup costs.

Bill her estate,Newark...she was worth millions. And since her death her estate is raking in millions per week in CD and video sales.

Good grief. I am so tired of paying for people who think they are better.

“I am so tired of paying for people who think they are better...”

If I remember correctly, wasn’t there discussions about Whitney being buried in $300,000 worth of jewelry?! Why couldn’t that had been sold to pay for such a funeral?

Not necessary.Let her be buried in $300K of jewelry.Just deduct the appropriate municipal fees from the million dollars a week her *estate* has earned since her death.Call it "the Micheal Jackson Effect".

Your idea of collecting from the estate is brilliant. I don’t think the town people should have to pay for this...

Send the bill to Christie personally. He wanted the flag flown at half mast didn’t he? He shouldn’t mind paying the bill.

Another reason to be against Chris Christie. I don’t understand why anyone would think the flag should be lowered in honor of a drug addicted celebrity.
