The Newark taxpayers should just do their ‘patriotic duty’ and pay the funeral ‘tax’. Make old Joe Biden proud and remember-— its for Whitney and the chilrens too.

No big deal. I bet the city made plenty of money from their hotel/motel/rental car/airport parking taxes from all the people that came for the funeral that wouldn’t have visited otherwise.
Can’t really blame Whitney or any other dead celebrity when funerals have to be policed like this.
Unfortunately, since about the 1950s or so, celebrity fans have behaved like hysterical, screaming animals in the presence of their idols, in need of physical restraint. It isn’t the celebrities’ fault that people are like this now, its just the way things are these days. Decorum and self-restraint are not prized virtues any more...

Is that true though or is it just one of those stupid myths that spring up around dead celebrities? Not that I’m saying it isn’t perfectly plausible...
What a waste. Why weren't those jewels given to the estate? What did her family and friends think she was, an Egyptian pharoh?
We buried my father with absolutely no jewelry. The funeral home removed the jewelry and gave it to my mother after a private viewing. If my father had had his way, the gold in his molars from dental work would have been removed. All we buried with him was a pecan wood cofin, a suit, and a pair of shoes.
The only jewelry that I have requested is my wedding band (it is thin and I figure the kids would eventually want their own). Any other jewelry will go to my girls (and hopefully granddaughters one day). I would rather it be passed on (and maybe they will think of me when they wear it) than to be trapped in a coffin. IMHO.
Send the bill to her record label & tell them to pay it.

Considering that this is Newark, the “residents” aren’t necessarily the “taxpayers”. Some sections have taxpayers with a stake in the city (and a tax bill to prove it); a much higher number haven’t paid taxes since they were born (even the sales tax they pay is borne by us taxpayers anyway).
