When the money was rolling in, my county went on a spending spree. At one point a particular grant for ballistic helmets and face shields had come up costing $10,000 LESS than the grant had allotted. When this was pointed out to the county commission the reply was, “Don't worry. We'll find something to spend it on.”
It was, ‘though I can't say on what.

Fine. Now if only they’d allow the states to exercise their right to control illegal immigration within the bounds of the (ignored) federal laws.

Among the most coveted pieces is the armored Bearcat, a paramilitary vehicle with a gun turret on top and the ability to drive directly into an explosive or hazardous hot zone. Metro Nashville police got one funded for $89,000 and have rolled it out about 175 times since 2009, including during barricades and high-risk searches, a department spokeswoman said. Pretty high risk "searches" they have going on there. Given the GPM's, I guess M-4 machine guns and MK3A2 concussion offensive hand grenades just ain't gettin the job done, huh?

There are only two uses for such vehicles, as I can see: 1) wars between gangs and police, and 2) rounding up political undesirables (read: Christians and conservatives).
Neither bode very well for us.

Mao, who was a much better guerilla leader than an economist, wrote that the enemy will always keep one supplied with guns and ammunition.
Just sayin’.

Reminds me of THE WAR WAGON used in Cairo Ill, a homemade armored police vehicle back around 1970.
