The shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman has sparked a debate over Florida's stand your ground law but also about gun laws in general. Zimmerman is one of nearly a million people who hold concealed weapon permits in Florida, more than any other state that keeps comprehensive records. Florida is an acknowledged testing ground for laws that either protect gun rights or enhance them. What do you think? Is Florida a positive example for other states to follow when it comes to Second Amendment protections, or is the state passing reckless legislation that makes the Sunshine State a more dangerous place? Talk about it!

Looks like the Brady Bunch hasn’t found this poll yet.

No doubt the commies at the Sentinel are getting perturbed at the direction the poll is taking.

Are gun laws in Florida too lenient?

Yes. Look at concealed weapons. Florida has handed out twice as many concealed weapons permits as Texas, which has a lot more people. This state is gun heaven. (1 responses)

No. This is like asking if there's too much freedom. Florida laws show respect for the Second Amendment. If that's too lax, too bad. (246 responses)

Yes. Florida leads the way when it comes to encouraging the a gun-loving culture. Any state that would vote to punish doctors for asking patients about guns has a serious problem. (2 responses)

No. The only reason this is even coming up is because of a case where the law – stand your ground – may not even apply. (144 responses)

I’m bettin’ the Orlando Sentinel wishes they never ran this poll, based on the results...

Poll is bogus, no option for “Are Florida gun laws too restrictive”!

Florida still requires a permit, so they have quite a way to go in fully recognizing our RKBA.
We need Constitutional Carry in ALL states!

Empty magazines always make me sad.

Trayvon Martin killed in state where 1 in 17 adults legally can carry concealed weapon

Bump that 1 in 17 higher and there will be less killings because the bad guys will reconsider their actions.
