Hollywood wants a $500-million blockbuster out of Sacramento.
In the final days of the legislative session, the industry is seeking a five-year extension of a tax credit for producing films and television shows in California. It has assembled a powerful coalition of moguls and unions, who argue that failing to re-up the program risks losing film jobs to states offering even more generous rebates.

In California we reduce the services to women, minorities, children and the elderly by 100 million annually.
For the purposes of bribing liberals to do business here.
To hell with Hollywood and the rest of the completely corrupt democrat party media.
The first thing a Republican President and Congress should do is tax these low-lives into the Stone Age, with every penny going to reduce the deficit.
It really is for the children.
This the one of the few places were they believe tax cuts will keep the business in California. If it works for your buddies in Hollywood it will work for all industries. Lower taxes on all businesses. Do it for the children.
Tax 'em 90% of gross receipts, and retire CA debt with the proceeds.
It's a privilege to make movies in Californicate, not a right.
A lot of movies and TV shows aren’t being made in California. For many years, Vancouver has been substituted for many East Coast locations, lots of movies have been made tax-friendly locales such as NC and Texas. Lots of other states aggressively market themselves for on-location shoots and generous tax breaks.
Agreed, some of my favorite stuff comes outta BC.
NP won't tax me 'cause I'm California free!
The Hollywood millionaires and billionaires do not need these tax loopholes, we need to eliminate these tax payments.
Aww. What? Propagand films not doing well?
Gotta give the industry a helping hand through the next 4 years of propaganda to make the ‘supposed’ admin look good, or the ‘unexpected’ one look bad.
“Finally, a tax I agree with.”
This is win either way as I see it. Give Hollywood the tax break and loose $500 million in revenue. Don’t give it to them and they leave and take their business with them and all their payroll taxes, etc. As one who wants California to go under at the soonest possible point in time, this is a win-win!
Add the serendipity that the ones that drive the knife into California will be the ultra leftist (Marxist) Hollywood "enlightened" elite, disemboweling unions, the 99%, DemoRat campaign coffers, and all the "social justice" causes.
Of course they could voluntarily STAY in the state and REQUIRE all employees to be union and live in state, and all software created in state, then smilingly hand those enormous tax checks over publicly on the TV news.
That's what good socialists do, right?
