During Sunday’s broadcast of “CNN Newsroom,” correspondent Susan Candiotti — the reporter covering the recent shootings of five black men in Tulsa, Okla. — used a racial slur on live television.
Candiotti used the “n” word while reading aloud what one of the suspects in the shooting, 19-year-old Jacob England, wrote recently on his Facebook page.
“Now, this, according to relatives, has troubled him ever since and CNN has also discovered what police have,” Candiotti said. “There was a Facebook posting made just the other day, written by the suspect in this case, that police are examining.”

If a WHITE person reads a FaceBook posting, written by a Black person “exactly as written” - and says the word “Nigger” - that is wrong, racist and hurtful.
But if a BLACK person shots a call-out to all of his “Niggers”, or “Niggas” - that is ok, fine and nothing is wrong.
If a BLACK recording “artist” uses his excessive (some say “genius”) talents and sports a “Rap” filled with the word “Nigger”, “Niggas”, “Hos”, “Whitey”, “Cracker” and other such “street” talk, why he is simply “keeping it real”.

We all are adults and know that the real word is ‘nigger’. It is almost always a horrible racial slur and I refuse to use the word in reference to anyone. However, it is just silly to go around saying “the N word”. Who are we fooling? It seems to be The Word That Nobody Can Utter, even more so than when some people will write G-d instead of God. Again, we are being so polite we look like children.

Just curious, does anyone know when the “n-word” went from being merely an offensive word, that no decent person would refer to another person as, to an actual curse word that can’t be used on TV or in print, even when quoting another person.
Not too long ago, it was common to quote others as saying it, or use the word while debating whether books containing it should be allowed in schools.
As recently as the O.J. Simpson trial, the full word was used both in court and by the media when discussing Mark Fuhrman’s testimony, so it had to be some time after that.
