Daring pack of kids raid SE Portland store
KATU-TV ^ | 04/10/12 | Megan Kalkstein

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police are hoping the public can help identify several kids who stormed a local gas station this past Saturday night and stole everything they could grab.

On the surveillance video, one person came into the Chevron convenience store on SE 92nd and Foster. Then a second person came in and pretty soon, a large group of kids was packed into the shop. Soon, they were stealing anything they could, from drinks to gum to candy.

Carlos Garcia was working Saturday night at around 11:30 p.m. when the incident happened. He said there were 16 kids in the store. Garcia said the kids grabbed anything they could and shoved items into their pockets or simply carrying them in their hands and out the door.

"My first reaction was call police because I can't do more," he said. "I don't want to hurt them -- they're kids. I called the police. They don't stop they're just picking picking as much as they can."

As the kids were leaving the store, there was some sort of confrontation. It didn't end there, though. The thieves came back to the parking lot, which is when Garcia said they started throwing things at him. Garcia promptly grabbed a baseball bat and scared the kids off.

Portland Police are investigating. Employees at the store are hoping someone can recognize the kids and call police.

Lots of comments about the use of the word "daring".

Lest anyone be surprised that this happened in Portland, OR, don't be: the once-beautiful city of Portland has become a cesspool of crime committed by Obama's sons and daughters in recent years.

Find one, find 'em all.

Too stupid to realize the cops will track their asses down through the social networks they used to plan their crime.

And IF he had used a pistol to protect his property (or the property of the store owner), we’d again have protests of an armed thug picking on the ‘poor minority kids’.

The local Portland TV stations are SO careful not to racially profile these little thugs, even though the store’s camera caught the whole thing.

Well, at least they used the term ‘pack’, which is appropriate for a group of animals. Did they take all loot all of the iced tea and skittles?

It’s crazy how they go out of their way NOT to identify characteristics about the perpetrators.

Why is it okay to say they are young kids, but not okay to identify other characteristics, such as race or ethnicity?

If they are concerned that people will have bad feelings about black people if they mention the race of the suspects, why aren’t they concerned that people will have bad feelings about kids and young people???? I mean, if the goal is to avoid profiling or promoting bigotry and all that, why is it okay to mention their ages?? Doesn’t that promote resentment and bigotry against the young????

If this kind of thing keeps happening on a regular basis, the layout of convenience stores may change.

It may get to how the liquor stores in some bad areas are set up. In some bad areas, the guy at a liquor store sits behind bullet proof glass, and slides the booze to you through a trap door. They don’t have the merchandise out on open shelves for people to grab and run.

We all learned in school that a few rotten kids in the class can ruin things for everybody.

“Lots of comments about the use of the word “daring”.”

####

Well I hope they are negative.

“Daring” is a complimntary term. For example, the night bombing raids over Europe in WW II took a lot of daring.

Wanton destruction and punkish theft by inner city savages with full cover from the Kenyan in Chief and his openly racist AJ, is just the uncivilized nature of their “culture” bubbling to the surface. Again.

And is Mr Garcia really Hispanic enough to use that name?

There is little doubt in my mind now that we are headed for a race war in this country. And the wrong side seems to be pushing for it because they will lose handily (the black side).

Actually, we will all lose.

Stores should have an audio loop of a Glock 17 in rapid-fire mode to play over their public address systems queued up and ready to go for just such occasions.

Eric Holder's people would clear out in three seconds.

In some places, businesses use a laminated double door system, so only one person can enter or leave at once, “buzzed in” by the clerk. If the clerk feels uncomfortable with individuals entering or leaving, he just locks his register and automatically, the door, then retreats to a “safe room” office behind it, and hits a panic button. Guns are still available, but the effort is for them to matter less.

Typically the robbers then in no particular order try to break out through the laminate, trash the store, and steal from the locked register, try to smash through the safe room door, and try to buzz the door open, all while in an increasing state of panic. All the while the police are en route, the video cameras are rolling, the clerk is talking to the police and his boss.

The end result is that some bad guys are trapped within and get arrested, some without who may or may not be smart enough to run away, the clerk doesn’t get hurt, and the bad guys who are arrested get years in prison.

Glad these citizens are not living in a “food desert.”

Citizens should not be confined to the snacks they can afford, but to the snacks to which they are entitled. I do worry, however, that they make have gone beyond the commonsense food dictates of the Fussed Lady, and thereby be at risk for childhood obesity.

whose fault is black crime in Africa, the Caribbean, Brasil, Colombian north coast, Canada, and Europe

nowhere in the world outside Bermuda does black “culture” function well...don’t try Botswana even...crime there is rampant...people live behind walls like Kingston

even in places never tainted by social programs and victimhood or colonization..it’s still violent and tribal and little family structure ..at least not in ways like we would have considered normal

i have lived in majority black environs worldwide most of my 54 years...it is a constant in them all

no question that prior to 1960s back to a time most folks lament as discriminiatory that blacks as a whole were more functional and noble but they still had crime and illegitimacy 20 times that of whites

in 1960 white illegitimacy was less than 1 percent

black was around 20

and crime was always worse in black areas but unlike today it was still fairly safe...in fact inviting in many ways..i sure never encountered black hostility till NYC in 19

what has changed more than any thing is black attitudes towards whites and whites refusal to admit the obvious nor have a clue what to do about it

btw...we can have a similar but slightly less inclusive observation about Amerindian Latinos as a well...same inability to catch up

and at the same time white trash is falling as fast as possible in the bad direction too merging in essence with lower black culture...a future City of God scenario but here in America

These frisky youngsters were at least prepared. Notice the large satchels slung over the shoulders of the two entering the door.

Reminds me of the bag I carried when delivering newspapers at 5 AM, when I was their age.

Very lucrative work! I made $20 per week, which works out to over $150 in today’s dollars.

Too bad that these kids may never know the joy of earning an honest paycheck.

I sure am frustrated and scared about a race war happening.

America has changed greatly in race relations. Yet some don’t see it or don’t want to see it.

Barack Obama is a very visible symbol of this, as he is our first minority president. We have a black president, have had black secretaries of state, black senators and congressmen, black Supreme Court justices, black mayors and governors, etc.

There have been or are black chiefs of police in many major cities, black Fortune 500 executives, black astronauts, and on and on.

The point is, blacks and other minorities have shattered all of these glass ceilings liberals talk about. It just isn’t news anymore to hear that a black person has achieved some major goal, even to be elected president.

The rampant discrimination of the past is gone. Obama personally is a symbol of this. Yet race relations seem very bad in spite of having a black president.
