Good for you ! You walked the walk.
So many on here just want to complain about every candidate and then gripe at who we have left.
We had a perfect candidate ... Rick Perry. But he was met with nothing but sneers, derision and LIES on this site
And then people whine because they don’t have a good candidate.
God bless Rick and his family. I wish them well.
Ditto.
Thank you for your post. I only gave a few half-days of volunteering. Not that it mattered since Romney was blasting negative ads at a 20-1 ratio in Chicago.
It was almost so sad it was funny. When I would reach a Romney supported by telephone, about half said they would not vote for Santorum because he was too conservative (and some would add too conservative means he couldn’t beat Obama) and the other half said they wouldn’t vote for Santorum because Santorum was too liberal (usually on fiscal issues).
I would try to ask them how Romney care is fiscally conservative (or conservative in any way). Santorum is not perfect (I think no one is perfect, so I would disagree with you here as I think Perry has problems too, although Perry is far better than Romney too), but people are going to vote for a real flaming liberal just because Santorum is not 100% conservative.
It was no use. Even if I could convince people (and most I could not as their minds were made up) there are millions of liberals in Illinois.
But you can see how money works in politics. Romney’s two messages completely contradicted themselves (Santorum is too conservative; Santorum is too liberal), and a majority of voters fell for it. The fix is in. The big moneyed Wall Street hedge fund guys went for Romney, the GOP establishment went for Romney, and the voters (or the majority of them) did what they were told by the elite.
Now I will have to see if Romney tacks even farther left and who he picks for VP. If he moves left and picks a liberal for Vice President I will have to sit this election out (for President anyway). If not, I may vote for him while holding my nose. Urgh, not looking forward to that, but definitely not looking forward to Obama getting re-elected either.
I agree with you on all points
