Newt Gingrich blankets voters in North Carolina

(RALEIGH) -- Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is spending a lot of time in North Carolina this week. The former House Speaker told supporters in Raleigh on Monday that he is staying in the race to influence the party's platform.

Even though Gingrich is in third place and his poll numbers are shrinking, he said he is staying in the race to influence the party's platform. At the same time, he explained why he thinks frontrunner Mitt Romney will win the nomination and the White House.

"What I said was compared to Barack Obama he is conservative enough. But the question was, if you came down to a choice this fall between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney who would you be for? And I think that compared to Barack Obama that he is clearly more conservative that Barack Obama is. I don't think he as conservative as the Republican nominee should be," said Gingrich.

Gringrich continues his campaigning in North Carolina with a stop in New Bern on Tuesday. He also has a Tea Party event planned in Greensboro on Saturday.

Err, it's kinda of hard to mount a serious primary challenge when one concedes at almost opportunity that your opponent is going to win.

I would think he needs to at least show up on April 24 to make North Carolina on May 8 relevant. Many of the delegate selection proceedings happen between now and then, and these are perhaps his best hope.

Newt works for me! Good post.

It’s true, some of us are itching for a fight at convention to at least take a voice to the RINOS. Newt can be the voice better than anyone.

Every serious and sincere Conservative should be rooting for Newt to get as many delegates that he can from here on out.

Those not doing this, never were conservatives in the first place.

Romney, you had better be nice to Newt. He has a lot of followers out here. You might be able to salvage a few votes from him, although nice won’t work with me! You stole his chances with your money.

Stating likelihood is not to state inevitability.

The only thing that’s ensuring Romney’s victory is the rampant defeatism that’s crippling the Right.

Go Newt!!!

I don’t know if this is our last chance, but we the people have either blown it twice or our election process has truly gone third world.

For me, Newt isn’t the “last man standing”. He is the candidate my husband & I have wished for & were delighted to find in the race. He is our first choice. (Gingrich/ Cain to Gingrich/ West or Perry)

Newt Gingrich is the ONLY man running with the intellect, the experience, & the guts to turn this country around.
And he’s got the record to prove it.
On To Tampa!

My image of him has become more of a cartoon character than a real life figure; imagine a big fat sucker stuck in his mouth, slobber drooling down his chin while trying to mutter, “It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

“Even though Gingrich is in third place and his poll numbers are shrinking”

Well, we know the first part of that earlier-written statement has changed - now, hopefully, the second part will as well.

I’d love to see Newt get a huge amount of Santorum’s voters and more money as well (which he badly needs).

It’s not over yet, gang. Convention at the very least.

He’s got it all in SPADES over Mittens. I really believe he’d inspire everyone who hears him in a general election. He’s a real pro who can keep his cool against BHO and not back off.

Mittens will get flustered and stuttery, even worse than he did in ‘08 (and that was only a primary)!!!

Did you see his speech in Delaware tonight on CSpan? I guess a lot of us Newties are familiar with most of it, but it was great!
The questions from the audience were great, too.

to your first post- You said it, llandres!

Yikes, I went to look but decided to go to elected(.com) instead because they’re always there- and they ARE! Some I haven’t seen yet, too. Go to elected.com & type in Newt Gingrich in the search box. It’s a buffet! (Yay!) At least 2 Delawares & the Lancaster GOP dinner, an NC one & a Missouri one. Enjoy!
(CSpan has only the NRA meeting on their front page. The others are Mitt the Twit & 0zer0)

(I’ve been offline nearly a week, so sorry for the tardy reply. We had a gastric mishap with several of the dogs & I’ve been cleaning carpets :rolls eyes:)
