NEW YORK -- Fox is objecting to the proposed sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers, saying the incoming ownership group that includes Magic Johnson has not disclosed whether Time Warner Cable is involved in the purchase.
Fox's Prime Ticket subsidiary filed the objection Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. It asked for written assurance that Time Warner wasn't contributing funds being used for Guggenheim Baseball Management's purchase of the team from Frank McCourt and the incoming owners don't have any formal or informal agreements for the team's broadcast rights starting in 2014.
Fox asked that it be given parts of the purchase agreement that were not filed with the court.
"Our filing today was a routine administrative filing to ensure our rights are protected," Fox Sports spokesman Chris Bellitti said.
Fox, the Dodgers' current broadcaster, has an exclusive 45-day period starting in October to try to negotiate a new contract with the team. The current contract also prohibits the Dodgers from talking to other potential buyers of the media rights before Nov. 30 and gives Fox a limited right of first refusal on competing offers received after that date.
Major League Baseball also filed an objection, saying not enough money had been set aside to satisfy what it is owed by the Dodgers. While the Dodgers have put aside $322,065 for MLB's claims, the league said it was owed at least $8 million as of Feb. 22.

Thanks to Selig there is now interleague play, the two historic leagues no longer actually exist, and teams move from one "league" to another. This whole thing (and the designated hitter) stinks.
The only good thing that has happened during Selig's term has been the construction of new classic baseball parks. That's all.
Blame Robert Moses for the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn NOT Walter O’Malley!

Brooklyn Dodgers owner Walter O’Malley wanted to build a new stadium to replace the outdated and dilapidated Ebbets Field. O’Malley determined the best site for the stadium was on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn at the end of the Long Island Rail Road. O’Malley pleaded with Moses to help him secure the property in a cost effective manner, but Moses wanted to use the land to build a parking garage. Moses envisioned New York’s newest stadium in Flushing Meadows on the former (and as it turned out, future) site of the World’s Fair in Queens. O’Malley was vehement in his opposition, stating “we are the Brooklyn Dodgers, not the Queens Dodgers!” Moses won this clash of egos and would not be moved on this issue. After the Dodgers left for Los Angeles and the New York Giants left for San Francisco, Moses was able to build Shea Stadium in Queens on the site he planned for stadium development. Construction began in October 1961 and the stadium opened in April 1964 to house the National League’s New York Mets, who played there until the end of the 2008 season, when they moved to the adjacent Citi Field.
