OBAMA OR ROMNEY: THE REPUBLIC FAILS EITHER WAY
WorldNetDaily ^ | 03/29/2012 at 7:59 PM | Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes

Posted on 04/10/2012 11:56:22 PM PDT by TBP

As I anticipated, “the elitist machinations of the sham party system are predictably moving America toward another false choice between an avowed socialist Democrat and a prevaricating socialist Republican.”

The “lesser evil” approach guarantees the triumph of wrong. So in choosing between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama we are like the cornered target of the hit man who says, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” The fatal outcome is inevitable in either case. Obama’s way takes us to domineering socialism along a path that moves more openly and harshly against right, conscience and property. Romney’s way takes us to domineering socialism along a path that reserves the harsher methods, preferring to use deception and prevarication so that we go more gently into the night.

The Obama way challenges the courage of Americans, and if that courage is lacking, it will succeed more quickly. But if courage is not lacking, Obama’s way entails much greater risk of resistance and failure in the short term. The Romney way is slower, but more surely and easily achieves the goal.

If you asked me to name two conservative politicians who are willing to go to jail for their beliefs, I’d say Alan Keyes at once, but then, uhh, umm...there’s another, I’m sure.

You have no standards if you would vote for a mad man like Dean.

I think even crazy Dean believes America is worth defending. I’d be hard pressed to think of an AMERICAN worse than Obama. I genuinely have doubts if the Republic can survive 4 more years of him.

It is time to get behind the last conservative in the race—Newt Gingrich.

Otherwise, you will be given Willard.

And thus, you will have Obama for four more years.

Which will it be?

I already voted for Newt in Arizona. I’d still vote for him even now.

Agreed, I will not vote in the election this year and watch as "Rome" burns.

My way of life is over, our way of life is over, because our government refuses to be the party of the people. They want to be the "party of the elite."

Thanks, Nateman.

I will be voting for Newt here in DE on the 24th.

Romeny can go to Golub for all I care.

While there is Newt, there is hope.

I’m in the same mind set and will probably only vote

“Are Ron Paul’s foreign policy views really more odious than Romney’s consistent socialism?”

Paul’s foreign policy views are consistent with those of the founding fathers who warned us about meddling in the affairs of other nations unless our nation is directly threatened. Even then he respects the Constitutional requirement that the nation not go to war without a vote for war by Congress.

Taking an objective look at the post WWIi period, this country has experienced a succession of undeclared wars initiated by presidents. These wars have cost the nation dearly in terms of economic resources and human capital with little to show because these wars were not in the national interest and the nation was not threatened. If we had allowed South Korea and South Vietnam to fall to their enemies would we be any less safe today? We fought to save South Vietnam from communism at a cost of 50,000 lives yet today we send our factories to communist Vietnam costing thousands of jobs at home. Did Kosovo and Somalia make us safer? Did we do the right thing by allowing western Europe to get a free ride on defense for 50 years? Had they paid the cost of their defense after WWII our economy might be stronger today.

What have our recent adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan done to make our country safer? More American citizens are killed at home by Mexicans and Central Americans in this country illegally than are killed by Iraqi’s or Afghan’s yet we are not using military force to stop the invasion of our southern border by millions of colonists. 9/11 was funded and perpetrated by Saudi’s yet we’ve done nothing to stop the funding of Islamic radicalism by the Saudi’s within our own borders. They are funding the mosques sprouting up around America and attacking our western culture.

In concept Paul is right. We are engaged around the world diplomatically and militarily In activities that do not promote our national interests and security. We fund these activities (as well as the welfare state and bloated bureaucracy) by debasing our currency and gutting our economy. Paul argues we should let the rest of the world deal with its own problems while we work to rebuild our own country.

Fixing a bankrupt America is going to require tough choices and massive spending cuts. Returning to a less costly isolationist foreign policy is one option that would save the treasury trillions of dollars over the next 10 years. Pull out of the UN. Bring our troops home from overseas while maintaining a strong navy, a missile defense system, and strong nuclear deterrent. Close our foreign bases and at least 50% of our diplomatic outposts. Stay out of foreign wars and stop diplomatically interfering in conflicts around the globe. Let Uganda, Serbia, Libya, Korea, and other nations work out their own problems. After all if we stopped worrying about a nuclear Iran we might find that China, Russia, India, and Western Europe suddenly start getting seriously involved with the Iranian situation. They are much more threatened due to geographic proximity than we are. Let them counter this threat in their backyard.

I agree with you. I find the perpetuation and expansion of the socialist state a greater threat to my personal liberty than what is going on half way around the world. If we are slaves to a totalitarian socialist state does it matter if the Iraq’s have a democratic government or if the Germans are safe from Russian tanks? Both Romney and Obama will perpetuate and grow the government as well as enable the culture warriors intent on destroying traditional values. Given the alternative Romney, Paul seems a much better choice.

So the guy that lost to McCain who lost to Obama is going to win?

Great analogy. Totally agree. We shouldn’t be talking the country’s future down like this. We have our children and grandchildren to consider. This particular election is about the economy. The exit polls bear that out.

To: Nateman; All

this “Anybody but...” mentality is what gave us Obama in the first place. A great many people voted for Obama because he was “Anybody but Bush” and that was as far as their thought processes took them.

Sorry, I’m not doing the “lesser of two evils” thing because in the end, a Romney presidency will not be materially different than another Obama term. The political class has circled it wagons and has complete control of both parties and every corner of the Federal government.

Head for the lifeboats or sit and listen to the band play. Either way, the Titanic is going down and nothing can be done now to change that outcome.

Can someone please explain to me how Newt can take this away from Romney? I would like nothing more than to see Newt take the nomination; I voted for him and I believe he would destroy Obama however, I don't see a path for him. What am I missing?

A large percentage of the delegates in the previous primaries are UNPLEDGED. Meaning they are free agents at Tampa.

Also, many of the upcoming primaries are proportional, meaning they are NOT winner take all.

Third, to be recognized on the floor of the convention, Newt needs five primary wins. He has two, and needs three more.

The “Romney” vote has never been split. The conservative vote has been split between Santorum and Gingrich.

Santorum would do the country a huge favor by endorsing Newt and releasing his pledged delegates to Newt.

There is still time. There is still a path. There is still hope.

As long as there is a Newt in the race.

We have two far outside chances... Newt and Tampa... otherwise prepare for the anarchy coming... America is almost finished as we have known her... we will rise again but we will not be the same country... I think that some areas will have to be walled up and sealed... evil is just too strong in some states and they must be isolated from those who love GOD and the Constitution that HE gifted us with. Will it happen... I do not know?

I have hope... I pray... but I have no idea of exactly what is coming... I know that it will be horrid. Most Patriots that love America have lost trust and faith in our government and ALL of its systems... we see how our own representatives have lied to us and conspired against us... we see anyone with truth and honor destroyed... the two parties are both evil and progressive... truth is nowhere to be found. When Americans quit believing in their government... and more and more are losing that faith daily... we are done... and we are almost there.

Thank you. This gives me hope because what I had read previously was that as long as Santorum is “suspended”, his delegates remain his. That being said, Newt would have to take everything from here on out to get the nod.

Look for relief from oppression at the state level. Forget FedGov™. When will states start forming regiments? What will it take?
