There is plenty more, if the above is not enough to convince you.
And this is the man whose favored brand of shoe polish you are so eager to taste?
Romney’s court appointees may be no better than obama’s.
You are one clueless dude and the kind the GOP E considers ‘right for the pickings’. It’s way past time you got dressed.
I guess you’re no fan of President Reagan then. Hmmm...
It was a resolution that was realistic. Newt and Rick were friendly with each other, and Rick had also said publicly that he would definitely consider Newt as his running mate.
The next thing that happened was talk about Newt's meeting with Romney, followed by Newt's weekend comments concerning Romney's being the most likely candidate.
Now what is wrong with this picture so far? IMO (and I very well may be wrong - only time and leaks will tell), Newt decided not to back Santorum and/or form a coalition with him, and Newt's Romney remarks are a reflection of that decision.
Furthermore, I think Newt's stance became a significant factor which contributed to Santorum’s decision to suspend. And to add insult to injury, once Santorum dropped out, Newt made moves to get his campaign going again.
Stuff about this will be leaked. It's only a matter of time. I will stand corrected and make a statement saying so, if I'm wrong.
It's a shame that a coalition never happened. IMO, many of us were hoping for it.
But that is now impossible, since Santorum begged Romney to pay off his campaign debts. In addition to that, Santorum’s big financial backer has already gone over to Romney.
Newt's big backer is also about to pull the plug on the already sinking canoe that Newt is riding in. Reality does not choose sides. It is what it is, so we need to figure out how to beat Obama with what we have, as well as make sure our interests are represented as Conservatives.
IT IS a fantastic speech and it was there and then, after I watched it, that I decided to support Newt.
What's "hard to do" -- voting for Newt because a few of his supporters on an internet forum wrote things you didn't like? How many people? Ten? As many as ten? Would you destroy the city for ten people? (with apologies to Abraham who made a similar argument)
Kosciusko51: That's a significant speculation on your part
That's all anyone has. I listened to Santorum's 14.25-minute speech yesterday. Not a single reason given for getting out of the race where he was a significant second-place runner and the certain front-runner if Romney demonstrates any fatal flaws in the next three months. His campaign is not seriously in debt, we are told. Rasmussen polls had him ahead in PA.
What did he talk about for fourteen and a quarter minutes? Family, the sweater vest craze, family, a cute video his fans cobbled together, family, some kind of plant, family, parents, children, family, parents, children, his wonderful supporters, family, and "continuing the fight" which is what they all say when they stop the fighting.
LibsRJerks offered the most plausible and innocuous speculation. I'm saving my collection of theories until such time as Santorum publicly endorses either Romney or Gingrich. But there is no pixie dust in my eyes for politicians.
Really? The "most plausible and innocuous speculation" would be that his daughter is doing worse, and that family comes first for him, and that the combine stress has taken a toll on him. Yes, Rick is a politician, but he is also a father. Maybe we should cut him some slack, instead of continuing to besmirch his character.
Your guessing has been wrong all along and the GOP E is relying on your type.
I can’t be bothered or chose to spend my precious time with liberal mindsets who are so clueless because their brains are mush from all the propaganda they eat. Go play somewhere else.
Perhaps you didn't notice, but you did not address a single point I made -- or any of the things Gingrich said in those video clips. You just howl that I'm a GOP-E supporter.
I can only conclude that your opinion of president Reagan is the same as that expressed by Newt. Talk about a liberal mindset.
The libs are laughing all the way to the whitehouse with sh!theads like you in merry support.
I think your assessment is correct, Lauren.
Newt could have been a kingmaker or a spoiler. He chose the latter.
Congressman Bob Walker, Newt 2012 Campaign Chairman, writes:
“With Senator Santorum suspending his campaign yesterday, the presidential race has now changed dramatically to a two-man race.
Rather than hoping we can force a moderate to occasionally pursue conservative policies, we now have a real opportunity to rally around a conservative candidate who can implement a bold conservative agenda.
As the last conservative standing, Newt urgently needs your help to coalesce conservatives around his bold vision of American energy independence, balanced budgets, and returning power to the states under the Tenth Amendment.
Despite attempts from the Washington establishment to crown Governor Romney and prematurely end the primary process, Newt is committed to staying in this race all the way to the Convention in Tampa.
My greatest fear is that if Governor Romney wins the Republican nomination he will immediately run to the center against President Obama and ignore the conservative values that you and I hold dear.
Even worse, if Romney and his team of etch-a-sketch consultants won the presidency, I’m afraid they would govern as a moderate, hurting the conservative movement in the long run.
I worked with Newt in the Spring of 1994 to help draft the Contract With America to give conservatives a positive governing plan. Governor Romney has not provided such a plan, but Newt Gingrich has.
Newt’s candidacy is essential to ensure that conservative values are at the heart of the Fall campaign and the next Administration.
We know the odds are great, but Newt has overcome the odds time after time during this campaign and his entire career. With your support, he can do it again.
Please take a stand for conservative values by making a donation to Newt’s campaign today.
P.S. Yesterday was one of the campaign’s best fundraising days in a long time, which shows conservatives still want a candidate fighting on their behalf. Help us build on that momentum by contributing whatever you can to Newt’s campaign of bold breakthroughs to change Washington.
Santorum complimenting Newt (Video) NEEDS TO GO VIRAL
Done...and glad to do so...let's hope Newt rises as Santorum's people not settle for Romney nor Paul but giving more than consideration that we do have a conservative in this race more than able and willing to take on Romney and win...and then take on Obama and win.!!!!!!! Go Newt Go!!!!!
The day before Santorum's announcement, the evil Romney pulled his vicious attack ads. That should had given you all and everyone else the first major clue that something was distressfully wrong within the Santorum family.
Instead of looking for a scape goat, I suggest everyone pray extra mightily for little Bella and Rick's family.
I know you want to project onto him the noblest possible motive for suspending his campaign, but he could easily have said so if his daughter’s health is the issue. He didn’t. In fact he said she was released from the hospital and is doing fine.
Moreover, she had health issues when he decided to enter the race — after, I am sure, much prayer and a sense that God wanted him to run. (He had 14 minutes, but he also didn’t say he now thinks God wants him to suspend his campaign.)
I don’t recall besmirching his character. I will however have additional comments if he endorses Romney.
Many Santorum supporters, I have noticed, are very sensitive. It may be a sign of insecurity. Or it may be something else.
Have a great day! :)
>>Romneys court appointees may be no better than obamas.<<
Maybe, but liberal for sure with BO.
>>Instead of looking for a scape goat, I suggest everyone pray extra mightily for little Bella and Rick’s family. <<
I wish I could give FR a sprinkling of your common sense.
GOOD to see you, dear netmilsmom!
God bless you and thanks very much for your kind words.
Ok, I went back and double-checked. I did not “besmirch his character.” Just stated plain facts. If you doubt it, listen to his fourteen-minute Gettysburg...speech.
Write, phone, email the party poobahs and demand that his name be withdrawn. Promise them you will not vote for him if he persists, and warn them he'll be doing great damage down ticket.
I heard this morning that some poll says 1/2 of Santorum’s supporters have moved to Romney.
He dropped out to preserve his own political future. Understandable, but he is part of the larger problem of politicians who do what is best for themselves, and not the good of the country.
That is a smear, plain and simple. First, assume his motive and then condemn him for it.
I was never against him....I was simply for Santorum....
.. but I've had my fill of hate speech at FR from the group of you toward Santorum.
Newt was never there when Rick needed him....
...and the rest of you turned me against Newt.
>>Romneys court appointees may be no better than obamas.<<
“Maybe, but liberal for sure with BO.”
I made the comment based on Romney’s previous appointments and his numerous positions on everything from gun ownership to abortion. I believe he will use judicial appointments to tout to and placate moderates and liberals as he has in the past. I know what obama will appoint but it is really bad that any of us would have doubts about what kind of appointments a Republican President would make.
Perhaps I’m wrong, but in Kentucky, I don’t believe Rick’s votes will count. Huckabee did this in 2008 and I found out my vote for him in Kentucky did not count. I made a phone call to my local elections office and that’s exactly what I was told. I was pissed off to the nth degree to say the least.
I don’t believe that Newt influenced Rick’s decision to drop out.
I do believe that he affected the course of the primary race, however, and that if he were not in the running, we would have had a different outcome that doesn’t involve a Massachusetts liberal.
Thank you very much, my FRiend!
Same to you.
Re; post suspensiom announcement votes
They can’t discard your vote it must be recorded.. Now if that candidate carries that district and also his delegates in states where you vote for delegates carry in that district I believe with emphasis on believe they have to seat them .
Where a cadidate withdraws that may be a different story
Its gonna need to be a great deal more than that.
They arent going to listen, true though it is.
Sorry, I meant its going to have to be 90%+ defecting to Newt for the Gingrich to stand any chance. Looks to me like Conservative morale is crumbling if 50% santorum supporters are going to Romney.
