We're All in Trouble
The American Spectator ^ | April 10, 2012 | Quin Hillyer

Posted on 04/11/2012 4:12:31 AM PDT by BO Stinkss

Now we will put to the test what was always an odd claim, namely that Mitt Romney is well positioned and well equipped to defeat Barack Obama this fall. This is a man who lost by 17 points to an incredibly weakened Ted Kennedy (people forget how vulnerable Kennedy was that year) in one of the most pro-Republican years in history, 1994 (the same year in which Rick Santorum won yet another upset victory); a man who would have been handily defeated if he had run for re-election as governor of Massachusetts in 2006; and a man who could barely squeak past his GOP opponents this year despite running almost non-stop for nearly six full years and despite outspending all of them combined by at least a 2-1 margin, while outspending each of them individually by at least 4-1 and running ads that were 90% negative against them.

Plus, he's a perfect caricature for Obama's anti-corporate-elite message to take root. Plus, he's plastic.

The GOP establishment -- the money men, the consultants who so repeatedly spread the message that only Romney could beat Obama while they angled for a piece of the lucrative campaign pie, the hangers-on and officious kingmakers, and the cultural elitists who secretly share much of the big media's cultural attitudes and disdain for middle America -- now must prove they can actually deliver a victory. If they can't, the GOP should have a figurative bloodletting that banishes them forever from party power.

Nonetheless, every conservative, and everybody who loves this country and cares about its traditions, its Constitution, and its freedom, should do nothing other than help that establishment succeed....

The problem is that Obama and Romney are cheaters.

There has been no accountability.

EVER.

Romney has used BAIN and his Mormon Legion to savage
the other candidates unfairly.
There has been no accountability. Even when
they savaged Gov. Palin’s children in 2008
for Romney in the future (2012).

They attacked CHILDREN.

Sick. If the GOP does not clean itself of the
sickness, it will inherit what is coming.

I was surprised he dropped out before the Pa primary.

THAT is a stat no one will ever know, now.

Some of us are not turning over the nomination until the convention fight. Romney needs to be made to work for every delegate he gets.

Should we poop out, Romney doesn’t have to even deal, or make concessions, and the GOP-E needs to hear us at convention, where they believe it will be a coronation.

There are states to be won yet. There are roughly more than half the delegates to be won.

We are the resistance. It is urgent that we not quit, not suspend, not grouse and give up. Newt hasn’t, and he is broke. Newt is in it to get us to convention and is doing some personal manno-manno spade work with delegates now. It is very important that we stick.

We’re having a money bomb for Newt on Wednesday! Win, lose or draw, Newt can force a contest for concessions and he CAN most certainly pick up some more delegates.

It is not rationale to reward the traitor.
Did George Washington resign and make Benedict Arnold President in his own place? No.

****BUMP****

INDEED. Well put Diogenesis.

My conclusion is that he knew with enough certainty to take the course with the best downside and resign the campaign

There may be a future if he doesn’t lose in PA

Well damn said.

Though I get the point D. is making.

Seems to me the conservatives need a Newt like figure with all that accomplishment & experience to lead a Third Party in 2016.

The Republican Party is dead.

What do you mean that I am wrong? Am I wrong in saying that four more years of Obama will destroy this nation? Am I wrong in saying that we must take the Senate and keep the House to stop Obama’s Marxist Agenda? That’s all I said. So, tell me; which of these two statements is WRONG? Or do you just look for a reason to cut and paste your thesis, that you’ve posted on FR a gazillion times, that nobody reads?

“I have a suspicion that some of the negative ads ran in the primaries were paid for by Obama’s stooges. They clearly got the weakest link to run against him. Just like 4 years ago. I hope the 4 years of depression keeps America from making the worst choice again.”

Sadly, if 0 pulls off the victory in November, America will be in very deep trouble. 0 would have a good shot at getting to appoint two to three more Supreme Court justices, and then we’re looking at a liberal majority for many years. Imagine the damage that could be done, and that is aside from whatever mischief he can accomplish himself.

So, despite all the rhetoric to the contrary around here, we should indeed hold our noses and support the GOP candidate. We can’t afford to do otherwise, as this is possibly the most critical election in the history of the Republic.

I am no fan of Romney by any means but two points invalidate this article to some degree. 1) No Kennedy is, was Ir ever will be vulnerable in Massachusetts. A Kennedy could ax murder a nun on Boston common and get elected the next day. 2) Romney won a state-wide office as a republican in Massachusetts. This is a rare And wonderful thing even if he is a RINO

Sing it, sister!

You are correct--we are the resistance!

I sent my 6th donation to Newt yesterday. He is the one shot we have to derail Willard.

Newt aims to go to Tampa, and I aim to help him get there.

The only thing I have to look forward to is the feeling of tired schadenfreude I am bound to experience when Mittens gets eviscerated and defenestrated by the MSM types who have been all buddy buddy with him these last few months.

It always happens — after the selected RINO chump is safely nominated.

Poor boy is going to be looking shell-shocked and teary-eyed soon...

Well stated. . . .
Romney was my last choice, and he will get my held nose vote in November. If ZERO wins I will be looking for a new country. . . .

There is to be a money bomb for Newt today! But you’ve already done it!!!

Check out Publius321 posts for the Wednesday scoop. A very COOL money bomb production. VERY cool.

Wish we could get it on the sidebar.

Romney was chosen to lose.

I think you're exactly right, but whoever was installed as the "Republican" candidate was destined to lose.

No, no, no.

Didn't you hear - if we just take the Congress back, they'll stop Zero's Destroy America tour. Like they've been doing since 2010.

Oh, wait...never mind.

Better to just sit home and cry into your milk for the Lost Republic. Oh, and sit at your keyboard and bitch about the establishment for the next four years. But at least you'll still have your principles, doncha' know.

I have a seething hatred of all voters who were bought by Romney’s money. They placed a dagger into the heart of what was once a great country and the bastion of freedom.

Romney is the personification of what our elective process has become...vote buying. It does not matter which party for they all do it.

Special interests run this country now, not the common people. Buying votes by complete saturation of the media, advertising and the use of public facilities and churches has blitzed the simple minds of our country to believe that the individual who’s picture is is front of them the most times in a day is one you HAVE to vote for. For younger, more impressionable minds, it’s a social must to go for the most popular politician who lies to you and tells you what you want to hear.

It’s a sad, sad world we live in today within the blameless society.

Romney and the GOP has sealed our fate and it’s time for a new party to represent the true Americans that are left. The GOP cannot be fixed for the ones to fix it are the ones who are currently in there. The only way to remove them is to find someone who has more money (votes) than them...and that ain’t gonna happen.
