'Stillborn' Argentine baby found alive in morgue (12 hours after birth)

A premature Argentine baby has been found alive in a morgue, 12 hours after she was pronounced dead, reports say.

Mother Analia Bouter was told her baby was stillborn after she gave birth in a hospital in the northern Chaco region.

But she said when she and her husband visited the morgue 12 hours later and opened the coffin, they found their daughter was breathing.

They have named her Luz Milagros - which means miracles - because of the way she came into the world. 'Disgraceful'

The incident in the city of Perrando happened a week ago, but has just been made public by local health officials.

Chaco province undersecretary for health Rafael Sabatinelli called the case "disgraceful" and promised a full investigation.

"Every member of the team that was involved has some responsibility, so they will have to answer for this," he told local media.

Ms Bouter was just six months pregnant when she went to give birth at the Perrando hospital in the city of Resistencia.

She says medical staff told her the baby showed no sign of life when she was born.

"That night I went with my husband to where the coffin was and he opened it up," she told reporters.

"Immediately I heard her cry".

The baby did not need resuscitation and is reported to be in good health.

Did Obama fly down to kill her?

they went back to the morgue? Isn't that morbid, like "staying up with the dead?"

“Isn’t that morbid, like “staying up with the dead?””

I think that is the parents’ natural desire to see, and say a proper goodbye, to the little one. Thank God they made the request.

“... they went back to the morgue?”

Perhaps they went to say a last good bye. Or, perhaps a more Divine Power urged them to go back. IMHO, God does speak to us... great things happen when we choose to listen.

My neighbors adopted a boy who was declared dead. The boy was a premature, underweight crack-baby and now has chronic health and development problems. He was found alive in the morgue.

Translation; As usual a nurse will be blamed for a doctors’ mistake.

First, It is wonderful that this family have a healthy baby as per the last line. But, some things do not add up. Say this baby completed her 6 months and is now 24 weeks gestational age - term is 40. If she was average size for her age, she would be just over a pound. She was so lifeless when she was born that everyone thought she was dead and 12 hours later was heard crying. At 24 weeks, the cry of a baby is quite weak. Something sounds fishy here.

Well, perhaps the mother was further along than she though she was.

But I agree with you, a 6 months baby - even if you’re pushing that to 28 weeks, is a frail, frail, little thing, and the best you can say for them is that at the moment, they are doing as well as can be expected - they can become deathly sick very quickly.

Prayers for the little one.

Someone at that hospital needs to lose their job. Unbelievable!

They put in live baby in a freezer for 12 hours. It’s miraculous she survived.

I thought it was a delayed April Fools Day joke until I actually read into the story.

I’d call the baby’s survival a miracle for sure!
