Mitt would govern as conservative (And I have a bridge to sell you)
Politico ^ | April 11, 2012 | Keith Koffler

Conservatives shouldn’t fret about the politics of their nearly-presumptive nominee. Mitt Romney will most certainly govern as one of them. He’s guaranteed to — for the exact reason they think he won’t.

If Romney really is the political animal his detractors on the right suspect him to be, he’ll shape his presidency with a single goal: Winning a second term. To do that, he will need to make sure there is no running room on his right for someone to launch a primary challenge.

Right at the beginning this guy ignores the record. Mitt did the exact OPPOSITE in Massachusetts. He did a lousy job. He was so bad that he ran rather than face the music.

He has also said recently that a second term isn't necessarily in the cards for him.

Romney certainly has no principles, but he does have a track record. His prior history has always been socialist. His lineage is extremely liberal. His father bowed to Alinsky. He cites his mother as the reason was pro-abortion. His accomplishments as governor have been socialist all the way. In fact, no one else running, republican or democrat, has his record of liberal accomplishments. When asked, Romney is unable to come up with anything he’s done, other than marry and raise a family, to further the conservative cause. Obama married and raised a family does that make him a conservative? I don’t think so.

The only difference between him and other libs is that he has an (r) next to his name. The only thing he has done since he began his run for the presidency is to have tricked a lot of conservatives into believing he is one.

So I would have to disagree with you about it being equally wrong to say he’s a flaming liberal.

It doesn’t take much to be a “conservative” when you have far left wing radical libs like Obama, Reid and Pelosi running the show....

Mitt will be severely conservative, as he was in Massachusetts.

While his superPAC has savaged every other conservative in the race.

It’s a difficult choice, try to salvage enough to rebuild America as it should be, or let the Marxists finish destroying it.

Salvage. And much like McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate that energized Conservatives, we have yet to see who Mitt might choose to run with - hopefully Allen West.

We’d be stuck with a socialist GOP

Cotton- His judicial appointments in Mass were very very very liberal.

You're assuming that we're all stupid enough to fall for that ploy again. (Which failed BTW)

I am no Romney supporter and I am very disapointed to see Santorum leave. That said, I have seen a lot of popular conservatives back Romney: Coulter, Nikki Haley, Jindal, Christie, Rubio, Cantor, Issa, Paul Ryan, Mike Savage and others. Each time FReepers attack the endorser. Do the endorsers know something we FReepers don’t? Will Romney move to the Right after the election? Is it possible that Romney can be a stealth Conservative, secretly getting the independent vote? It’s all I got at this point.

I know. I live in MA.

I do, however, seem to recall that we forced President Bush to withdraw Harriet Miers and appoint Sam Alito. With a senate in republican hands that is even more conservative than the majority in 2005, I believe we can succeed in getting conservative judges. And also, there is an enormous and increasing knowledge and interest in constitutional government that may force Romney’s (and the senator’s) hand.

Romney is an outright liberal, but of the Republican brand:
He just doesnt want to pay higher taxes. He is like Bill O Reilly,

I hope that doesn’t happen. I hope Allen West doesn’t have to carry the stench of Romney with him for the rest of his political career. I can’t forget what the McCain/Romney group did to Palin. The socialist wing of the republican party has not met a single conservative they haven’t wanted to destroy.

Under the fool me once theory, the addition of West to the ticket won’t help Romney anywhere near what Palin did for McCain, simply because we’ve seen that trick before. Those who are already going to hold their nose for Romney might feel better about themselves, but those who know what a socialist Romney is, also know that nothing would change. Allen West at the top of the ticket would be fantastic though.

I haven’t heard of one solitary thing that conservatives won’t have to concede to vote for Romney. Not one.

According to Rush Limbaugh, Romney is able to convince people by talking to them. I can’t recall the number of times I’ve heard people say ‘sit down with Romney one on one and he’ll convince you.’ I also can’t forget hearing about his wife saying he can argue either side of an issue and she can’t tell which one he supports.

There is a difference between “popular” conservative and principled conservative. I know that you are hoping beyond hope that all the liberal things he did in Massachusetts were just an attempt to fool people. That his support for the gay agenda and $50.00 for an aborted baby were just his way of kidding people. Remember that if Mitt’s mouth is open, he’s trying to fool someone. But you can look at his history and his upbringing and you’ll see there is nothing in his background that would make him conservative.
