MIAMI (CBSMiami) George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, according to the Associated Press.
Additionally, Zimmerman has been taken into custody, but it hasnt been revealed where he is being held.
CBSMiami has confirmed that State Attorney Angela Corey, who was appointed as a special prosecutor in the case, will hold an announcement about the charges at 6 p.m. in Jacksonville.
That press conference can be viewed LIVE starting at 6 p.m. by clicking here.
If Zimmerman is found not guilty, there will be murderous riots by those who identify with Martin.
They’ll never get a conviction. Heck they won’t even get a jury.
Boycott Florida, cripple their economy; and this woman’s political aspirations will be over.
Do you think she is trying to strech out the clock until after Nov. and hope for a new DoJ?
This arrest will keep the riots down for a bit...
I’m must thinking that is how she got there.
On reflection though, given her professional responsibility I think she must have evidence that hasn’t been disclosed.
But, based on what I’ve read with Police reports the guy at best was at manslaughter.
I find it a little hard to believe that the prosecutors think they can prove this beyond a reasonable doubt.
IIRC in the Casey Anthony case they had to prove first degree .....No other choices for the jury. All or nothing.
Remember several discussions about Florida law must state lesser degrees to convict of lesser degrees. You may want to check that.
No, she's a hack. Republicans are not necessarily conservative and Republicans have a strong tendency to cave into the pressures of political correctness. I heard her statement and what stood out to me was that she mentioned that their office took the case not simply to "investigate" whether or not a crime took place (which is the job of a special prosecutor), but to "Seek Justice for Trayvon". She basically stated that her job was not to seek the truth, but to find a way to seek "Justice for Trayvon". First name. Her words.
Her job was to investigate the facts and then make a determination as to whether or not Mr. Zimmerman was guilty of some crime or whether or not this was a justifiable homicide. Her own words indicated that she had no interest in the truth, but in getting the desired result.
There is no way on earth that they can legitimately convict Zimmerman of second degree murder. If he had murdered Miller then there wouldn't have been serious wounds to the back of his head and there would not have been a witness who had indicated that Miller was on top of Zimmerman and pounding his head on the concrete before the shot rang out. This is a clear case of justifiable homicide. The police and the county prosecutors, despite media and political pressure, made the decision NOT to prosecute him even for negligent homicide or involuntary manslaughter, yet this politically appointed hack looked at the same evidence and listened to the cries for "JUSTICE" from the president on down and decided the safest course of action was to charge Zimmerman with Murder. Frankly if she had charged Zimmerman with involuntary manslaughter, then the riots would have started today. The riots will now be postponed until the Judge throws the case out on a demurr or at the preliminary hearing, or if that doesn't happen, then after Zimmerman is acquitted.
All this hack did was to pass the buck. She knows he's innocent, but she knows that her life would have been in danger had she failed to bring this charge.
This is what American Justice has become under Obama.
I’m not a lawyer, but there is simply no way, as you said, that they can prove a murder charge unless they are sitting on significantly more evidence. Also, as you alluded to, he was held and questioned by the police and not charged. How could a second-degree murder charge possibly follow that? No legitimate charge could, that’s for sure.
I’m not sure what to make of it. It might be grandstanding. It might be a rabid and overzealous prosecutor (Mike Nifong would have company in that case). It could be something else entirely. This charge is absurd on its face, so there’s got to be something else going on here.
I find it a little hard to believe that the prosecutors think they can prove this beyond a reasonable doubt.
Freep mail me and we can put our heads together. Let’s bring it to the steps of the capitol in Tallahassee. Im tired of this passive conservative shit. Let’s stand up for this man!!!
This is the Florida statute on Aggravated Stalking. Now, they would have to prove that Zimmerman either repeatedly followed Martin, or the that he made "credible threats with the intent to place the person in fear of death or bodily injury". Just proving that he followed Martin is not sufficient. So unless they have a recording of him threatening to shoot Martin before the fight started, I don't see how they meet the burden of proof. Especially since the mere fact that he called the police in the first place would argue against the idea that his intent was to harass Martin.
That’s true. What I find hard to understand is why we are living in the same country with people who have no respect for the law or their fellow citizens.
So what was the deal with those lawyers who dumped him?
The GOP-E may have called in a favor, to make this all go away for a while.
Hey, I’m just trying to figure this out as we go along.
I can’t even get there with this description as he was and had been a neighborhood watch type for years and it would be expected that he would recognize unusual activity and persons and then direct LEO or other emergency services to the location.
Gonna have to wait and see what the evidence is that none have seen.
If there is additional evidence that points to Zimmerman’s guilt then I’ll go with it but at this point I can’t get there.
Obama and his rabble really want to use this to incite blacks to vote. If you don't charge him you get riots and random violence (not that you would notice above what they normally do) and you give Obama an election issue.
Charge him and let the prosecutor go on TV for a couple of weeks and threaten to smear him with honey and stake him to an ant bed. Wait until after the election to actually get a verdict handed down and Jackson, Sharpton, Obama and the rest of the poverty pimps won't care.
Every way you look at this the state Florida doesn’t have squat of a case.

“It is and at some point he will likely be pressured to take a plea to manslaughter. That is if he lasts that long without being murdered.”
I agree with you, Gator, If he gets bail, he’s dead unless he can hide fast enough to avoid it.
I ordered more ammo from Cheaper Than Dirt ‘cause being very light skinned with blue eyes and blonde hair, seems I’m on the enemy list of black people. Seems like white people are no longer welcome in this country run by a black man. There is something wrong with this picture.
Because I’m so upset about being a target, had Pizza Hut bring me a pepperoni with extra cheese pizza - now I feel better - plus I have my Luger pistol. Don’t bother me when I’ve got pizza, your life depends on it.
Who the he’ll is Miller?? Been drinking all day?
I think it was the citizens academy, which is more of a “and this is our jail where the bad people get locked up” sort of thing.
I predict Zimmerman is declared not guilty, Rodney King riots Part 2 begin but this time America has had enough.
There Will Be Blood this fall.

Saul Alinsky and the strategy of manufactured crisis. Their plan works whether he’s found innocent or guilty. Be very careful...even the law is not on your side.
Wasn’t Martin very close to the father’s girlfriend’s house. If he had been in fear, why not run home or use phone to call 911?
(n) Aggravated stalking,
Nonsense. Following a suspicious person for a moment, and breaking off after you lose them, while talking to police, (non-emergency, not 911)is not "stalking" under any definition. Let alone "aggravated".
” All this hack did was to pass the buck. She knows he’s innocent, but she knows that her life would have been in danger had she failed to bring this charge.”
BINGO!!

I’m wanting to know where I can donate to his defense?
It might be prudent to also carry a knife or sharpened screwdriver that doesn't match anything in your home/garage.
It really disgusts me to even say that, but after witnessing what the FL PROCS just did..........
Pretty disgusting isn’t it? And you know what the reason is? Because somebody got to get paid, usually someone who has nothing to do with the case. This is how our legal system works today. The problem with Zimmerman is he doesn’t have a big mouth like I do. If this was me I’d be holding press conferences every 12 hours. I’d ave every mugging victim from the past month with me up there on stage saying they wished they had a gun. This is why liberals win elections; Because Conservatives don’t even come close to opening their mouths as much as liberals do. Like my brother says- Becuse Conservatives are busy working unlike liberals who have all that free time from unemployment checks, welfare and food stamps.
I hope you are right but I fear otherwise.
I don’t thinking has anything to do with it. The charge falls under the basic section.
There is no law in America today... we have Gestapo.

It depends on the indictment document and Florida law. Generally manslaughter is a lesser and included offence , when intent ( mens rea) cannot be proven , but the act itself is proven.
This is a political show trial worthy of a communist state, not of the due process guranteed by the Constitution.
I doubt Zimmerman will be convicted , unless he has an incompetant defence lawyer. It will cost a LOT of money.

The unlawful killing of a human being, when perpetrated by any act imminently dangerous to another and evincing a depraved mind regardless of human life, although without any premeditated design to effect the death of any particular individual, is murder in the second degree
Second degree murder ???
She must have some additional information not released to the public....because I barely see manslaughter here at best ....
Are you drinking again?
I was appalled when the prosecutor said they wanted “justice for Trayvon” before later backtracking and saying for Trayvon and Zimmerman. Later, I heard on Levin that she said she’d made up her mind last week. That leads me to believe she chose to bypass a Grand Jury which would be required for Murder One, and which might not give her the indictment. Instead, she decided to exercise her own judgment in filing charges at the highest level her authority allowed.
I also notice women just piling on the makeup to the point that it makes me cringe...both this blousy, homely prosecutor and Trayvon’s “sweet” mother.
Zimmerman’s primary risk now is running out of money before he can get to trial. Here’s hoping someone really good volunteers to take the case probono, or a whole bunch of us build a solid defense fund for him.
I do not mean Law Enforcement Officers I mean the “rule of law”... just to be clear.

She sure as sh!t sounds like it.... Man there better be some VERY compelling evidence againt GZ that is not in the public domain.
Ha!
