Please help with typo in title: it should be “off,” not “of.”

There was an 8.7 on the other side of the planet today. If you want to see a ‘global’ view of Earthquakes, then go to

http://www.wolton.net/quake.html

Download the program (takes 2 seconds) and then just run it.

You can see patterns of activity like you never have before.

Sitting as I am, less than 10 km from the center of Tokyo, I can assure you I agree. I might even admit to a small whimper.

Sumatra yesterday, this today, and there have been a number of stories about recently discovered faults near me.

Oh well, can’t spend all my time worrying about Obama. :-)

Maybe it is GOD talking, telling us that the next shake up is going to be the financial markets. THAT too will be full of intrigue.

Bracketing California.

Better watch it. I smell a fire for effect.

I just checked, using EARTHQUAKE 3D and the Mexico Quakes are almost directly opposite the Indonesian Quake. I.E. it’s where the waves from the Larger quake meet on the opposite side. IIRC, it’s typical to have such a result.

That science concept of action/reaction is over-rated.... < /sarc.>

why no edit button ?

Because you have endless opportunity to 'edit' your THREAD information, before you hit the POST button.

If users were allowed to 'edit' THREAD info, titles, etc., things would quickly spiral out of control.

The ADMIN MODS are very good at responding to a request to 'correct' a headline. IIRC, the fast/best way to do so is to HIT the ABUSE button yourself (meaning the 'poster' of the thread) and explaining your need in the abuse post.

Brandon is about 80 miles west of me. It has some fault lines associated with a coastal subduction zone and has frequent earthquakes but usually 4.5 at upper end. One of these days . . .

The Oregon one was right on the plate boundary.

Could this be caused by magnetic pole shift?

” The Oregon one was right on the plate boundary. “

I’ve seen somewhere (okay - ‘megadisaster’ doom&destruction shows on ‘History’ Channel...) that the Oregon segment of the subduction zone is overdue for a “Major” earthquake, 9.0 plus-or-minus....

Hope this isn’t a pre-shock for THE BIG ONE....

Apparently Cascadia had the big one around 1700 (records in Japan show a major tsunami that period).

The thing with quakes is that we don't know when they are actually due.

It's the beginning of the end of the Earth via global warming because of the misuse of the planet by man in the richest countries in the world.

Haven't you been getting personalized flyer's from the Algore crying planet foundation?
